If all hell breaks loose
If that redneck asshole is re-elected, do you think he will take us to another war?
If he does, there is a damn good chance of a draft taking place...aka (in my case anyhow) a one way ticket to get the fuck out of here

Ok guys, I'm a dirty lib too, but these polls have got to stop. Some of us here don't like Bush, and some hate him, but these cheerleading threads have got to go. Somewhere on VV, there's a midnyte sky left unwatched and unchecked because we're having a rally on this thread. Think of all the poor children that may get taken away by the sharks and winnow out there, and spend time on other more worthwhile threads that have actual evil conservatives trying to take our jobs.

It's kind of strange. I keep hearing people that i know talking about how if Bush gets re-elected they're moving out of the country. Now, of course most of these people are full of crap obviously and are just venting frustration.. but if he starts another 'battle' (when was the last time we declared actual "war"? WWII?) I can forsee lots of Americans leaving the country to Canada. I mean, not in mass droves, but definitely more than before.
I don't have doubts of the possibility of him doing almost anything at this point. I don't know what he could get away with, but it's pretty obvious that it's a lot. And the way the citizens keep gobbling up his fear factor (strange how the terror alert went up with lots of so called evidence RIGHT after the DMC eh?), they're going to be subject to his lies and propeganda.
Call it unAmerican if you wish, but there's not much the American people can do at this point. Revolution? Please. Americans are too lazy. Assassination? I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. Four more years of him destroying the environment and foreign relations for profit is a very scary thought.
Go go Ross Perot!

If things stay relatively the same, I think the chances of a significant offensive military action are fairly low. Our troops are spread fairly thin at the moment and I think the chances of the draft being reinstated are very low. Also I don't think the political support will be there as easily. Bush did get basically a blank check from the legislature to go to war in Iraq. I don't think that will be as easily forthcoming. A smaller military action is always a possibility if the circumstances are right for it (and its a possibility under Kerry as well as Bush).
This is all assuming things stay at least somewhat static. Another large scale terrorist attack on the U.S. and anything is possible (and once again, in this case it wouldn't be necessarily restricted to if just Bush is elected).

Born and raised American. I've lived here for 6 years now and we had planned to keep living here due to her not being fluent enough in Norwegian yet to easily work back home.Bojangels wrote:Not really any of my business, but if you don't mind satisfying my curiousity, what nationality is your better half?
If there is another large scale attack AFTER the election and Bush is re-elected...it will be a very, very scary time. I wouldnt be surprised if Martial Law, or something similar was declared, the 1st amendment would die, and we would be living in a Country stripped of its libertys and cloaked in pure authoritarianism, at that point, i would support, and if need be, fight in a revolution to overthrow that governmentChmee wrote:If things stay relatively the same, I think the chances of a significant offensive military action are fairly low. If Bush pushes a ban on abortion, I'll applaud him, not leave the country.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

I think this is overblown. I have no doubt that there will be a push for more security oriented legislation that will be unfriendly to the constitution, but I don't think it will be anything as far as the picture you paint here.Xzion wrote:If there is another large scale attack AFTER the election and Bush is re-elected...it will be a very, very scary time. It is overblown, and very unlikely, but sadly it is still a possibilityChmee wrote:I think this is overblown.
