I've always kind of thought of the people who watch WWE/WWF in a negative light. I realize this is a prejudice, and one I've worked to purge myself of, but then I see the show on TV when flipping channels, and the prejudice gets reinforced. :(

That said, I think it's retarded.

It's not like I'm watching ti for the quality of the fighting, or even the storylines. It's cheap, decent, entertainment... wouldn't let my kids watch it, but. :)

Jushin Thunder Lyger (Great Skill!)

Superfly Jimmy Snuka!

Now those two showed great skill and technique (and high jumps from the toprope!)

Two Wrestlers of the Old School you should watch Akaran!

MOONSAULT!

Rest is Crap IMHO! :D

I watched Wrestling in the early 90's!

Look, Akaran, I'm not saying that the 'acrobatics' and fitness levels of the athletes can't be impressive, but look at it this way...

The fake wrestling barely takes up half the show. The show is at least 50% a soap opera.

Women watch soap operas.

Enough said.

Cheap decent entertainment that is about as enjoyable as slamming your dick in the door.

No thanks.

I can't tell you the last time I watched it for more than a moment, probably at least a year ago, but it can be entertaining.

There are hot chicks and it's kind of funny to watch the silly storylines.

I voted no though, I don't really watch it that often.

I really dont watch nearly as much wrestling as I used to. I began watching WCW in early 98 and am pretty much adamant about the nWo era being the best of pro-wrestling histroy. At that time, Nitro had 11M watching any given week, and while they still kept it at a G or PG rating, WCW had the better storylines. Period.
Nothing has changed in the WWE within the past four years. Triple H is still "the bad guy." The Rock still embarrasses anyone and everyone who crosses him. Kurt Angle is still a pussy. JR is still annoying and The King still owns.
Its so unrealistic and predictable now (and that says a lot, coming from me) that I forget to turn it on. :(
Turner should have never sold his franchise, IMO.

..Then someone in the sports section can bitch about WWE not being Sports related and bust it back to the Movies/DVD/TV section.

According to Vince it is "Sports Entertainment" now ;)

WWE is just a full contact soap opera. I don't think I have ever watched it FOR the "sport," but I do recognize that they are for the most part fit and athletic.

WWF/WWE and what they are called nowadays is not sport but entertainment.

Of course they are trained athletes but there is where it stops.

Its not like athlete X(lets say Snuka) have to fight athlete Y(lets say Lyger) for the belt and the outcome isn't decided before the match.

They strive to make it exciting for the audience, not to win.

It's not like the clothesline attack is an efficient attack (that is hard to avoid) in a real fight hehe.

And the front kicks (where the toes hit/nudge the skin) performed with a stomp(for added effect) are not the most damaging attack hehe

They are athletes that train hard, there is where it ends being a sport hehe.

Pure entertainment/Freakshow, and some WWE antics have also influenced the later K-1 (K-1 Beast for example) and Pride competitions where they have added Giant Fighters(Giant Silva, Montanha Silva, Bobbu Sappu), Sumos(Akebono) and special fighters such as Butterbean.

A match such as Butterbean VS Genki Sudo has OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of entertainment value tho hehe.

Aye, APA. They've split, and the black guy was fired from the company. Bradshawl is now this neo conservitive "rich texan" jackass, currently the world title holder on Smackdown.

I used to watch it a lot when I was younger with my dad. Then I moved into the WWE (well F back in the days), stoped for a bit, then started watching it again. Never liked WCW much. I dont watch it much now as have to listen to it cause my husband and son watch it.

Just my opnion its eye-candy. Some of those men are all tall, muscles and good to look at. The Rock, Stone Cold, Goldberg, Undertaker, etc so not hard on the eyes. hehe

I'll watch it now and again but it is tough to keep up with who is the bad guy now and who is the cool guy. I always liked the neutral people who would fight anyone good or bad.

Jake the Snake Roberts
Undertaker
Roddy Piper

These guys were some of my favorites. Now I only see the shows when all of the Law and Orders are ones that I have seen already.

That was some fun shit, of course I was 11. Nowadays it's just silly, but then again, Brock Lesnar is a Viking soooooooo

i used to watch WWF when it was "real". ya know, when they used to wrestle. i was a kid then.

i grew up, sorta and joined the army.

when i was in the army every monday a bunch of people would go hang out in this one dude's room and play spades, drink alcohol and watch monday night raw. if it wasn't for the spades and the beer i'd have never watched it.

it is entertaining. it is a soap opera, but it's a man's soap opera. i haven't watched it since i PCSed from that assignment. that was 2001.

it's not a sport though. if it is then so is stuntwork. it's basically the same thing.

so anyways, i'm not a fan.

thanks, that's why i quoted it. it's always been fake but one day they decided to come out of the closet and tell everyone it was fake. that's when it got big.

Alright, I admit it. I'm a closet rasslin' fan, in a way. It's a performance sport... like syncronized swimming... with less smiling.

Although they occasionally hit on something that's pure genius (currently the big star on Raw is "Eugene The Wrestling Retard"), and occasionally the "matches" are things of pure beauty (watch anything Chris Benoit has done with Kurt Angle, or some of the matches in Ring of Honor), it's mostly garbage. I watch it with my roommates during the school year, but I can't say I pay much attention during the summer. It's boring as hell to watch alone.

WWE was good back in the late 80's and early 90's..hell all the way up to 97 it was rather entertaining..There wasn't as much soap opera bullshit. Now, I don't even watch it anymore because it's more bullshit that it is entertainment.. Yet Vince is still raking in the dough..

At least Brock Lesner was smart enough to get out of it.

The fake wrestling barely takes up half the show.
I used to watch it occasionally... up until the 'stories' started overshadowing the fake wrestling.

The fights were always fun to watch, regardless of the outcome.

I think thier largest demographic currently is 15-25 year old women.
Heck, my mom even watches it now.

I used to watch rasslin' with my dad. This was before I went to college and subsequently gained control of my own remote control. Some of my favorite rasslers were pre-WCW:

George Teh Animal Steele
Rowdy Roddy Piper
Andre Teh Giant (RIP)
Jimmy Supahfly Snooka

and midget rasslin was my favorite.

I go into moods for months at a time and stop watching it for more months at a time. You know, an ON/OFF kinda thing. But, I haven't watched it in years, ever since Degeneration X split (about 5 years ago?). That, however, was a really good story line.
