Quick Kobe Bryant Vote
Should hear in a few hours now.
Personally, I no longer like Kobe Bryant and I think everything that has happened with the Lakers is a sad, sad commentary on professional sports. I'm looking forward to reading the journal that Phil Jackson is publishing.
I think he'll sign with the Lakers, but I pray with every fiber of my being that he signs with the Clippers. I think at this point the Clippers are the better team for Kobe.

Won't let me edit the poll for some reason. How the hell could he get to the Suns? Kupchek (sp?) has already said that he won't do a sign and trade. If the Clippers are able to sign him, there's no force on Earth that would make them trade him. Seriously, how could he get to Phoenix?
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
Mostly kidding but just because Kupcheck said he won't sign and trade doesn't mean he won't. I find it hard to believe he'd let Kobe walk if he had the opportunity to sign and trade and get something at Kobe's request.noel wrote:Won't let me edit the poll for some reason. I'm happy with the Suns especially if we get Q-Rich. It's all about getting some sort of center now.
I don't have a clue what Kobe is going to do but the Lakers are a big mess so if him staying there hurts in combination with a Shaq trade then I'm all for it. I'm not impressed with what the Lakers would be getting for Shaq to go along with Kobe.

I voted for the Lakers. There's no way the let Shaq go unless its at the request of Kobe. If Kobe was really gonna go somewhere else, they would have kept Shaq. I think they have to have some promise from Kobe. And although a player's word seems to be at a low now due to the Boozer fiasco, I think Kobe has all intentions to resign with the Lakers now that Jackson and Shaq are gone.

The Clippers will never shell out money for a star player. Why would they, when the team is one of the few that make consistent profit, win or lose?

Kobe is such a fucking faggot. Each team has offered the MAXIMUM that they can possibly offer, and their deals have been on the table for several days now. He apparently announced today that he'd call both teams TOMORROW at noon and announce his intentions. What I want to know is... WHAT THE FUCK is he prolonging this shit for?
And hell yes, Pherr. The Staple Center is now too far from his house or something? Part of me wonders if he was just asking for bullshit like that to see what he could get away with. This is apalling.
Yesterday Jerry Buss was quoted as saying Kobe isn't calling the shots. I hope to god that's not true. If I were Jerry Buss, it would definitely be Kobe calling the shots because if it's not Kobe, someone needs to be fucking fired.

Uh, he would have been an absolute fool to pass up that deal. Utah offered him $27 million more than Cleveland. Can you honestly say YOU would pass up $27 million? Don't criticize him for doing the right thing for himself.Aevian Dreaklear wrote:And although a player's word seems to be at a low now due to the Boozer fiasco.
Cleveland and he just underestimated his value. I'm sure they're sad to see him go, but I doubt they blame him.
Oh, it's simple Noel. Kobe is prolonging it because he LOVES drama. Just look at when the drama started in L.A. - when Kobe came to town.
I don't think it's a huge stretch to see the Clippers playing in Anaheim, Pherr, they already play several pre-season games there every season which always sell out. There's been talk of them moving part or even all of their regular season games there (based on successful ticket sales) for years. Even before moving to Staples they had talked about it, only reason they are there is that it saved them the trouble of relocating to another city.
Finally, I'm kind of surprised by Phoenix using up the rest of their cap room trying to sign *another* point guard. Didn't they just overpay for Steve Nash? Maybe they're planning to trade Quentin (I'd say one of them but no team in their right mind would trade for Nash's ballooned contract). They need to be going after some size, not more guards...
War pickles men in a brine of disgust and dread.
It's not that cut and dry. Cleveland let Boozer out of a contract and Boozer promised them and his agent he would resign with Cleveland in basically a prearranged deal. He wasn't a free agent. Boozer then fucked them over and went to Utah. So Boozer was getting very low pay, Cleveland said they'd pay him more and let him out of the contract, Boozer fucked them over and left. It's rare to see an agent fire a client but that's how fucked up Boozer was. He got his money but at the expense of ruining his integrity for the rest of his NBA career.Karae wrote:

Quentin Richardson is a shooting guard not a point guard and has decent shooting percentages in all three categories. You may see Marion or Joe Johnson moved for some sort of a big man I'd guess. The feeling in Phoenix is they may just keep everyone and sign Scott Williams to doublehead the center position with J. Voskuh as there's no decent big man available worth signing for big money.Karae wrote:

I was merely making the comment based on the views of the general public. I do realize $27 million is a lot of money. He did basically agree to sign with the Cavs for the mid level exception and work out a longer deal next offseason but then received that offer sheet from the Jazz. I'll never be in a position where it'll be my word versus $27 million extra so I honestly don't know what I'd do. The point I was just trying to make that trusting NBA players may not seem like such a good idea, regardless of what their options are.Karae wrote:Uh, he would have been an absolute fool to pass up that deal. On a man by man basis, I think the Clippers are better. Look at the teams. The Lakers will run a frontcourt of Karl Malone (maybe), Caron Butler, Lamar Odom and Brian Grant. The Clippers will have Chris Kaman, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette. I'd rather be the Clippers. The point guard would be either Gary Payton or Shaun Livingston (eventually). Although Payton is probably better now, I'd rather be with Livingston.

I think the Clippers are by far the better team with the better coach. Just the Lakers contract situation is totally fucked right now. I believe they're locked at the salary cap through... 2008. Fuck that. Clippers are a younger, better team with in my opinion a better coach.

True but do you thing Nash cna help the Suns win a championship? I mean hell he was on the Mavs who has twice the talent and they could not win.
Do you think Shaq can help the heat win a championship? they traded all there talent to get him.
The Clippers will be better with Kobe but still will not win a championship.
- Heat: I think Shaq will take them to the Eastern Conference final where they will loose against Detroit. They hardly gave away all their talent heh (Dwayne Wade!), they got rid of one person they've been trying to get rid of and 2 others who CAN be good but haven't really lived up to it imho.
- Suns: I think Nash was one of the best Mavs in that he actually tried to do what it took to win. He shares the ball etc. I think he will help make Suns play-off candidates for sure.
- Clippers will never win anything due to horrible owner/management.
Another problem with building from the draft is all the high school players entering. Not all of them will be a LeBron or Carmelo who can instantly raise their team from the dead.

Kelshara as much as I tried to agree with you I cant, I just looked at Miami's roster and I dont think they have the talent to even win their Division ( depending on K-Mart) let alone the Eastern conference. As far as Nash I loved watching Nash and Dallas will miss him even though I feel Daniels will fill that role quite nice. the Suns look like a less talented Mavs they dont even have a real center. the way i see the West now is.

Eastern Conference (with the exception of Detroit) sucks ass. Shaq will have two very unselfish talented players to play with, which will put them in the conference final imho. Dwayne Wade will be a superstar. And Suns might be slightly less talented than Dallas, but the egoes in Dallas killed the team just like the Lakers. And Dallas wont pass Spurs and T'Wolves no matter who they get

Must be a Dallas fan! Taking Nash from Dallas will hurt Dallas more than you seem to think. People say you have to have a dominant big man in the West but the West just lost it's biggest man so that's one less team to worry about having a big man for.Cartalas wrote:the Suns look like a less talented Mavs they dont even have a real center. the way i see the West now is.- Suns: I think Nash was one of the best Mavs in that he actually tried to do what it took to win. I just listened to a 20 minute interview with Suns GM Brian Collangelo on the way to work. He was very open and clarified why they didnt pursue Tracy McGrady after learning of his contract demands and why they didnt spend money on any of the overpaid Center free agents so far.
The Suns have a very good young team in place. Joe Johnson and Amare are reportedly kicking ass in summer games. The reports are that even Casey Jacobson is playing well in summer games.
The Suns sucked last year and have made some bad decisions over the past few post Barkley years so the rebuilding isn't a one year project. They've spent the past year + dumping all of the bad contracts. We will be very competitive this year and if we manage to get even a mediocre center we will contend for a playoff spot.

Shit Winnow reminded me about the Rockets, Sorry Winnow while I agree the Suns are young picking up Nash was a move that a team that was knocking on the NBA Final door would do. Not a team building for the future.
Maybe egos wasn't the correct choice of words. They put too many "stars" on the team, too many people who wanted the ball and wanted to shoot. When you bring in highly paid players who sit on the bench, you got an explosion waiting to happen. Plus they were all focused on scoring, and not on playing defense.. and as Spurs and Pistons have showed: Defense wins championships.
Personally, I like having a couple of superstars only and the rest being good roleplayers. Look at Spurs, they got one REAL superstar (Duncan), a superstar in the making (Parker) and roleplayers who are GOOD at what they do and know how to play defense (Bowen, Brown, Rose, Ginobili, Horry, Torkuglu, Willis).

While Nash was overpaid, he is exactly what the Suns needed. We have a bunch of telented scorers and needed someone to get them the ball. Nash is much more than that as he has outstanding shooting percentages himself to go along with his assists. Whenever you have a young, highly athletic team, it's a good idea to have a solid veteran at the point. The only thing you can argue about this trade is the money he got which I'm fine with and there was no way around it.Cartalas wrote:Fair enough just curious though what egos on Dallas besides Cuban?Kelshara wrote:Good point I'll give you that. The Suns needed two pieces...PG and C. PG is filled and the Suns didn't have to lose any of their good players to do it. Q-Rich may be on his way to Phoenix if the Clippers get Kobe to add another quality scorer for Nash to get the ball to..if not, we'll have 7-8 million under the cap to get a FA Center in a trade or next year. If we do get Q-Rich that gives us Joe Johnson or Marion to offer up in a trade as well.

DAMN YOU WINNOW DAMN YOU TO HELL

You are making me show you why losing Nash wont hurt the Mavs as bad as everyone thinks, And I hate it becuase next to Van Exel Nash is my favorite player.
During the playoffs
PPG Nash 13.6 Daniels 15.8
Rebounds Nash 5.2 Daniels 6.2
Assist Nash 9.0 Daniels 3.0 <<<<<< Dallas Will Miss
FG% Nash .386 Daniels .427
AGE Nash 30 Daniels 23
Nash has a bad back and he is Canadian
Yes, that's a huge stat to drop 6 per game on for a PG. You didn't list minutes played so it's hard to judge. The other stats look promising though.Cartalas wrote: DAMN YOU WINNOW DAMN YOU TO HELL![]()

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that next year, the NBA will once again have more drama off court (or in court; thx rapists) than it will all season on the floor.
I really wish the NBA could get it's shit together and stop collectively sucking. I try, every year after March Madness, to watch the pros, and every year the game gets worse. I mean, I like an underdog as much as the next guy, but watching the Pistons play was like watching a dog take a crap.

I still don't understand how people can say that. I find watching Pistons' games very exciting. Every guy on that team hustled his ass off on every play. They played good defense and had some exciting steals, blocks and rebounds, not to mention good inside and outside shooting (some games) and some nice dunks. Great defense and unselfish play, hell there were several games this year when they had 7 or more guys in double digits. What am I missing?masteen wrote:I mean, I like an underdog as much as the next guy, but watching the Pistons play was like watching a dog take a crap.
Is it because we don't have a 9', 400 lb. monster who can just plant his ass in the paint and run over anyone who gets in his way? Is it because we don't have constant media attention over a (perceived?) feud between our two top players, or between a big name player and our coach? Are you looking for more of a reality television series than a basketball game? Seriously, fill me in!

Some promising news for the Suns:
Maybe we'll get Q-Rich afterall. If the Clippers match Q-Rich with a heavily front loaded contract the Clippers will have little roster flexibility for the near future as they have already paid their important players for that time which would make it very costly for Sterling to trade any of them.
Mark Curtis reported that the Clippers have spoken to Richardson and he told them that he doesn't wan't to play for the Clippers . He has decided that he wants to play for the Suns next season which reportedly means that the Clippers will not match the Suns offer for Richardson. Mark Curtis reported this on the 6:00 P.M. News .
I really don't get the apparently insatiable desire that Phoenix has to trade Shawn Marion. I'm convinced that he's the best player on the team. He's certainly one of the most versatile players in the league: He can bounce from position to position, he has range past the three point line on his jumper, he can play around the basketball, he rebounds well, he passes well, he plays excellent defense, and he's a stellar athlete. He's not a one man team like some guys, but there are very few better all around players in the NBA. I can't think of an available big guy that would even come close to matching his talent. If you manage to dump Shawn Marion for big Z or someone comparable, all the good that the Suns did this offseason is basically lost.
It's a tough spot the Suns are in. I completely agree that there aren't any good centers out there and the ones available are being overpaid. We need a bigman and if there's a chance we can get one through a trade it's worth looking at. The question is, can we win more games as the team stands currently with Q-Rich now and Marion or will we win more without Marion and something like a Dampier.Sueven wrote:I really don't get the apparently insatiable desire that Phoenix has to trade Shawn Marion. It may be Joe Johnson that goes as we'll have to sign him for pretty big money next year if we keep him.
I'm a Marion fan myself.
