Hellboy

Post by Dregor Thule »

Was good! Was great seeing Ron Pearlman in a leading role, big budget film, he deserves more credit than he gets. I have no idea how well it did compared to the comics having not read them, but I saw it with some Hellboy fans and they loved it.

Yeah I thought this movie was really fun! The effects for the most part were superb and the script was funny though a bit cheesy at times. Ive read some of the comics and even though I thought this movie was good, I don't think it was as good as the comics themselves.

Fun movie, I recommend seeing it in the theatres for the visuals and sound. Ron Perlman is the man in this. Yay for the kittens. I wish they had more of Abe, he has an incredibly interesting background and he is a key character in the comics.

I was hoping for more of Liz. My skin kinda went all funny when she had John hit her, then she turned and said "You should be running now" in what is probably the most creepy voice I've ever head from a woman's mouth.

Agreed, Pearlman MADE that role, I don't think anyone else could have pulled that off so well.

One thing that I noticed tied into the preview of this movie they did in WIRED magazine with the director, in that he wanted to have no human blood aside from the guide at the begining. The lack of gore was what really got my attention; when the assassin dude went all Salad-Shooter on the museum guards, it was like.. where's the blood splatter?

Really enjoyed it, was sad when they offed the old professor dude.

But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Haven't seen it but I am curious if this is just another League of Extraordinary Gentlemen kind of movie.

It was good, but bad at the same time. I don't think it was worth the 7bucks at the theater, but renting it would do well.

Best Buy was giving out free DVD previews in nice cases for this movie. I don't know how good the actual movie is but they spent a bundle on advertising. Lots of ads, commercials, etc.

Just saw it.. It wasn't too bad. Never read the comics either but I'm guessing they had the cheezy factor as well? At least it wasn't overdone. Seemed a fair balance between all the different elements in the movie.

I'd give it a 7/10. Slightly higher for the Hellboy fans who know wtf is going on.

It's a very dark comic, but also very comical. Hellboy always had funny one-liners in the comics. I personally think its the third best movie based on a comic, behind the Spider-man and X-men movies. It was well done, but could have been better.

I enjoyed it. :) Actually, I have enjoyed most of the comic book type of films lately...and I never read the things as a kid. :) It is nice to see something new.

I finally saw this tonight. It wasn't bad at all. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Great special effects but with much better acting than LXG. It kind of had a Nazi Occult/Indiana Jones slant as well.

The best scene was on the rooftop when Hellboy told the kid he was on a mission, was eating his cookies then threw the rock.

"What do you mean they don't look like spies?"

Rented this last night. Very good movie, it lived up to my expectations. Ron Perlman made the role of Hellboy come alive. Efx were very good, especially Ivan the "talker" in Rasputin's mausoleum.
