I need a new game

Post by Hoarmurath »

Well, now that I have my EverQuest habit kicked (hopefully), I find myself in need of another game to occupy my time.

Unfortunately, I'm so out of the loop when it comes to current games that I don't even know where to start. I just recently finished Temple of Elemental Evil, and that was pretty cool, even though it's a bit old. I'm looking for a single-player game (or multi but with single player missions) in the FPS or RPG genres. I'm currently leaning towards Delta Force: BHD (Platinum Pack) or the Call of Duty pack.

So in essence, I'm asking for a few FPS/RPG suggestions that are more or less current, and don't suck.

(Note: I don't have a console system, so it has to be a PC game.)

Dungeon Siege is boring. Repetitive as hell.

Play Knights of the Old Republic if you haven't yet. Oh, and Call of Duty was kick ass, highly recommended. Kudos for playing through ToEE, the game was too buggy and bland for me.

Ahh yeah, I never played KoTOR...that should probably go on my short list. Is the sequel out already? I read about the sequel in CGW, and it aroused my interest. Not sure if the story interests me a great deal, but if it is a great game on its own merits, that's good enough for me.

And yes, ToEE was horribly buggy...it got to the point where I'd have to save every five minutes in case the game crapped out on me.

KoTOR has an excellent story, a lot better than the shit Lucas is shoveling us in movie format. Sequel isn't out yet, not till sometime next year. If you like RPGs this is a MUST play. Morrowind is ok, I've tried now and then to get into it but just can't seem to, there are quite a few people who love it tho. Game of the Year edition, isn't that and X-Box thing? Halo single player on PC was fun enough, never played it multi. I was unhappy that the port to PC of it didn't include the co-op campaign.

Spellforce is turning out to be a pleasant diversion.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

If you haven't played Neverwinter Nights or only the first one I would stuggest picking it up and the expansions. You can get the Gold version now which has the first expansion then pick up Hords for about $25. Great storyline and the replay value has been good... there is also TONS of player mods out there. From specific storylines for paladins to the more "adult" oriented tales. Personally I can't believe I never picked it up until Feb. of this year...

I'd have to agree with this suggestion. I got a lot of fun out of NWN for awhile.
