11 children die after eating temple sweets
United Press International - Monday, July 05, 2004

Date: Monday, July 05, 2004 11:27:46 AM EST

NEW DELHI, July 5 (UPI) -- At least 11 children died and 68 others became ill after eating 'prasad,' or holy sweets, at a Hindu temple Monday in India's Bihar state.

The children all complained of nausea and vomiting after eating the sweets at the temple in the Vaishali district. The sweets, first offered to a religious deity, were distributed among temple visitors.

While seven children died Sunday night, four lost their lives in a hospital Monday, government official R.K. Singh reported.

Singh said additional physicians were sent to the region to treat the victims. Health authorities were investigating.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't eat ANYTHING in New Delhi that I hadn't brought with me.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

That's great. But what if you live there, nimrod? Ohhh... that's right, world doesn't revolve around you.

Let me diagram it for you-

My point- which was apparently too subtle for you- was that it shouldn't surprise anyone that this type of thing doesn't happen all the time there. While having to admit I'm not very proficient in Indian health codes and food service regulations, I'm betting they're a bit less stringent than one would want, be you native ~or~ tourist. So you see, I was passing a judgement on the local food preparation; I wasn't really implying that my personal food was the only food in question, and thus it was an applicable response to the thread. Go back and re-read it. Re-read it several times if you have to, it's there.

Oh, and since you really, really hurt my feelings by calling me a nimrod, go fuck yourself. TIA.

I'm sure the kids will remember to bring their organically grown tofu-treats next time they go to church. Make your shallow little point, fine, I'm sure the parents would thank you for the consideration. Maybe if you take a step back and think you'd perhaps realize what a waste of breath it was to even say that in the first place. Do they have much choice on the conditions in New Delhi? Don't try to say yes. But yea, at least you get to tell some dead children 'I told you so'.

yah sanitation is a foreign concept to these people, they eat stuff raw is what i heard and every other person has some sort of diatery disease.

to compare i tried to find some incident on food poisoning in the united states and haven't found one yet after 3 hours of looking, now that's one clean country i can tell ya, i'm going there for my next vacation, not some asian country that doesn't even know what a stove IS let alone has any.
