Flamethrower > Guy digging a big hole?

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

What's really scary is all the people saying they want one and asking for plans.
If you post the directions on here and a bunch of people make them, I garuntee you somebody will explode.

Make a whole lot more, and then weld a couple bikes together. Then armor plate the bikes and you have Killcycle!

His parents took the pictures of him using it for the first time.

His parents were the ones behind the camera actually. They should be saluted. Needs to be arrested? Are you retarded? A gun has more potential to harm/kill someone. I don't know if it's legal to own a "flamethrower" but like Dregor said, right to bear arms.

sawed off shot gun? right to bear arms refers to a gun ... the founding fathers didn't have flame throwers or a bazooka .....

They also didn't have semi-automatic, fully-automatic, laser targetted, whatever you want to point a stick at guns either. Anyways, this isn't about gun control... this is about a smart kid doing stupid things!

I'm not quite sure on how this is a 'stupid thing' that he is doing. From all the posts that I've read on the thread, he is being completely responsible with his testing, and following advice / criticism of people when they point out safety issues, and has worked actively to ensure the rig he is doing is safe. (Safety precautions being wetting down the area that he will be firing his flame thrower, ensuring there is at least one other person on hand with a fire extenguisher, etc etc).

He even refused to post how to do it for a flame thrower, however did post how to make a watergun version of it (I think I might actually do the watergun version with a friend of mine this summer for fun). Though there's not a lot of difference to modify it to use gas, which he stated, he is at least filling his responsibilities by ensuring as much safety as he can.

I give full marks to this kid for actually taking the time to learn how to do this and applying his knowledge in making it, and doing research on his work, including trying to ensure certain chemical welds will hold, and upgrading / improving them as he learned more from others.

Now if he was endangering himself and others then I could say yeah he's being stupid, but so far he has yet to show he has been. I must say his zombie/furry/marshmellow test was quite amusing - but again he ensured safety first.

Nice argument, doesn't change my feeling that strapping yourself into a flamethrower is patently foolish :)
