Thoughts on Velvet Revolver

Post by Markulas »

I'm surprised this isn't up already, but I would really like to know the opinons of others on yet another supergroup. Anyone get their cd yet?

Yes. Think I only listened to it once though so don't remember much about it.

Most of the bad reviews I saw on it were from people expecting Guns n Roses.

I'll probably pick it up in the next couple days and give it a listen.

Outdated...lacking in emotion or actual decent rockiness, predictable, impotent.

I love some GnR, but this is just bandwagon jumping.

It is okay without any greatness. What is surprising is how influenced the sound seems to be by the Tommy Lee solo album.

I have to be the most biased person here because I totally love Scott Weilands voice. And if you say anything about being grungy listen to all of Stp's albums and his solo album.

Putting that aside, I personally like VR's slower songs compared to their "hipper" stuff.

Do not involve Sex Pistols with this group of clowns! :P

It is the dude from stone temple pilots along with some has beens from guns and roses... don't get me completely wrong, Apetite for Destruction was a very good album for its time...gnr just fell flat after that... as far as Weiland, well...STP was cool at the beginning when he had some semblance of control over his H addiction.

As far as this collaboration, I just can't buy their concept, it is just not there. Also, Slash was a very talented guitarist, just not the great one many make him out to be due to his past popularity.

Id say theres about 6 good songs on it. The rest is, well would be good for me if i was the same person when I was 15 and hearing Megadeath and Metallica non stop. Im not comparing the two, but I think a lot of their songs are more ...harder than anything thats out today, and it just didnt sink too well for me.

I give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5.
