fahrenheit 9/11

Thanks but I've seen enough of 9/11 to be honest. Whether it was because I was running from the building, watching people jump, or ducking from the sound of the 2nd plane as it flew over my head, i think I have had my fill. I already know I'm not voting for Bush, I don't need to be angered or saddened into it.
For the $19 going to that movie, I purchased season 1 of King of Queens. Now THAT'S entertainment. Holy shit what a funny show. I forget that some shows can actually be funny sometimes because I never watch anything but sports on the tube any longer

I think that many people wouldn't be able to distinguish the difference between the 70% and the 30%.Fairweather Pure wrote:IMO, this movie is 70% relevant information, while the other 30% is a mixture of opinion/entertainment/shock.
I find it odd that the Moore haters choose to focus on the 30% while ignoring the 70%. I'm amazed at the way some people think and behave.
I give it a 8 out of 10. As a movie, it delivered a gambit of emotions. As a message, I think Moore made his points quite clear.

Ok, I'll clarify. That is not a fear. It is the knowing that the movie will attempt. I don't want to spend an entire movie trying to seperate fact from fiction. That doesn't seem entertaining to me at all. Now people may think this argument can be used against me with all sorts of other films but I disagree. This movie made no pretense that it is political and weighted/skewed against Bush. If I want to see that crap I need only watch TV commercials. Moore may present certain things as Fact but how do I know if it is true? I am not a political analyst and I would say that a large majority of our community on these boards aren't either (though they may profess profound knowledge and spew what they believe to be Facts). I'll stick with my ignorance and enjoy the movies meant to entertain and not preach.Krimson Klaw wrote:Haha so you won't go see it for fear of being brainwashed? I really would rather not go to a movie where I know I am going to get hammered with brainwashing whether it is an Anti-Bush or Anti-Kerry movie.
If Moore were so altruistic to make this movie to inform the masses of how concerned he is then why didn't he make it FREE and put it on TV?

That is why I would urge people to see it. You will walk out engaged and hungry to either prove or disprove Moore's viewpoints. It's pretty scary when people avoid excercising thier critical thinking.don't want to spend an entire movie trying to seperate fact from fiction.
The worst prospect for many, is finding out that Bush and Co. really did fuck America. Moore's film is just an orginaization of his thoughts on how and why they did it. My view would be a tad different in several areas, but I reached the same conclusion long before I saw this film. I wouldn't say he was preaching to the chior, I would say he's currently the loudest voice in a very large chior.

I like the way you put that. I guess one of the reasons why I won't go see it is because I'd be giving Moore my money. This is hardly something they would put out on DVD I think though it may make it there. I would go see it I guess if it were free and I had the time.Fairweather Pure wrote:That is why I would urge people to see it. As far as I am concerned, Film making should not be a forum for pressing out your political beliefs. There was a good reason this movie got shut down by the first company he tried to get to produce it.. I can't remember who it was, and it never should have made it past that stage. I am sick of Moore and hearing about his extremist movies and can only hope that he will absent-mindedly walk out in front of a bus sometime soon.

Disney was the second. Mel Gibson's studio was the first choice and Moore was turned away.Disney... FYI
Why on earth would you ever say that? Do you honestly think they wouldn't put this out on DVD? What on earth would ever bring you to that conclusion? It's broken box office records already. Eisner is rolling over with grief at having lost out on another cash opportunity by turning this movie away, while the Weinsteins (who bought the distribution rights back once Disney refused to distribute) are raking in money hand over fist. This is hardly something they would put out on DVD
Eisner is already on the thinest of lines with his shareholders. This lost and blatantly obvious opportunity of Fahrenheit 911 may be the straw that breaks his back. The film costs were next to nothing, so profit is very easy to generate. This movie has the "Blair Witch" profit margins to make studios think a little more before they sink 100 million into another Alamo.
Of course it will eventually be on DVD, HBO, Pey Per View, and released internationally. Don't be simple.

My mistake. I didn't look at it from a marketing aspect when I said it wouldn't make it to DVD. I guess I was looking for re-playability after the elections are over. That was my initial reaction but after pondering on it some more I can see where this would be used as a history piece for college or high schools. I just didn't get the "OMG I need to get that on DVD" vibe that I would normally get with some of the other new movies.

Yea, films should DEFINITELY never be more than trite special effects bonanzas aimed solely at fleecing John Q's pockets and actively trying to perform a sort of intellectual genocide. Personally I hate it when I'm forced to think about what is in front of my eyes. I agree, I'm so sick of hearing about that damned guy with his views and opinions and his ability to form complete sentences. I hope he eats an acid bomb and disolves from the inside out while George W. Bush (God bless) shits on his chest while furiously masturbating while whistling songs from the HMS Pinafore and Laura cheers him on while beating herself over the head with a 50lbs bible.
So I'm totally with you, dude!

God some people are so fucking stupid it pains me. I never once said what you are implying. I would enjoy to watch a movie similar to this that was not someones opinion, IE: a documentary. The point is that he is an extremist and I don't have time for people like that.
I also don't really care whether he likes george bush. It is one thing to express your feelings about the president, but it is another thing to use a public forum (like movies) to be borderline disrespectful. I am not saying that I am a fan of bush, because im not.

I completely agree, in fact, we should censor all forms of art so that noone can express their political views....unless they agree with funkmasterr, then they can express them all they want.
I'd answer the question in your second paragraph of your last post, but there weren't any questions. so umm...

Expressing yourself and being an arrogant prick are two different things. I don't want to hear extremist right wing people any more than extremist left wing.
I don't like democrats that always think republicans are wrong just like I don't like the flip side of that. Same as I don't like to hear christians say that you are going to hell if you don't believe in their religion.
That's my point.

The simple fact is that Moore can make any type of movie he wants. With whatever content, for whatever agenda he might have. He can say what he chooses, edit as he chooses, and assert anything he wants.
He also can't get his panties in a bunch if he's challenged on it, as he seems prone to do.
(Although I do think it's somewhat unfair to real documentarians to put this in that category for award purposes. Best Picture, fine. Best Documentary, no.)

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

My wife dragged me to this one last weekend. I already hated Bush so teh movie didn't sway my vote at all (I'm libertarian). It was a funny as hell movie though. I laughed my ass off constantly. Moore is very good at taking things out of context and filming them with the right music.
