US hands over sovereignty in Iraq

The US has formally handed over power in Iraq, two days ahead of schedule.
At a low-key ceremony in Baghdad, US administrator Paul Bremer gave legal documents to an Iraqi judge. He later left the country by plane.

I'm puzzled that Bush\Blair didn't use this as a big PR event. Bremer just gave some papers to a judge then jumped on a jet? Strange behavior from these 2 administrations that jump at every PR opportunity available.

Unlike you Forthe I am less cynical ( wow being less cynical than someone always comes as a surprise to me ) and do not think it is about money the Iraqi's have lost. But if you examine it from a PR perspective it is top down a smart move. The gains of big meetings, ceremonies etc would be destroyed by animals beheading people, dragging bodies through the streets and our people being animals and abusing prisoners.

You and I ( and I say this because I respect your ability to logic) both know that ever Tom, Dick and Abdullah was prepping to dominate on July First making sure their point was heard on the news rather than the transfer.

It was actually kind of slick, I have to wonder who they outsourced the decision to....

(Yes this is posted on two threads, but they should have been one to begin with heh)
