Good news for MS children!BOSTON - Somewhere in Germany is a baby Superman, born in Berlin with bulging arm and leg muscles. Not yet 5, he can hold seven-pound weights with arms extended, something many adults cannot do. He has muscles twice the size of other kids his age and half their body fat.

Read up on the tensile strength of the new alloys that are being worked on. There is a company specializing in it (I forget the name). Essentially what they do is mix up a cocktail of different metals to prevent crystalization. As a result, the internal structure has more in common with glass than with conventional metals. The strength of these alloys is impressive. They are, naturally, very expensive at the moment. Virtually indestructable armour will never be a reality as it will should always be possible to use the same substance as a projectile, but there are dramatic improvements on the horizon.XunilTlatoani wrote:Perhaps it's time for humanity to discover the secrets of adamantium.

Liquid metals...they actually have the tensile strength to construct an elevator to the moon...archeiron wrote:Read up on the tensile strength of the new alloys that are being worked on. hrmm yeah I think you're correct was the extruded bucky balls...that phrase makes me somewhat uncomfortable...:/VariaVespasa wrote:Thats carbon nanotubes for the space elevator isnt it, not metals?

The tensiles were really high on the metal as well though weren't they? and energy transfer was amazing I recall some of the bounce test results just staggered me in terms of duration...
both are potentially huge advancements in material sciences...and cool toys too...
