You know, I normally make no comment here at all, but this cracks me up, being as I have seen pictures of Sam, and when he says he wouldn't back down, in his viewpoint, it's not really a threat thing, it's just sort of a matter of fact statement that any big ol' Samoan like Sam is going to make.

This is not some freaked out geek saying "I could beat you up" this is godzilla telling bambi, "You don't intimidate me." See, it's all about the context.

Sam is a sort of talk from the heart kind of guy, he's not a smart ass punk white boy like most of you little witty freaks.

This thread is a perfect example of why I am starting to think Everquest is just as bad as alchohol or drug dependancy for "some" people. Every spend time with a bunch of junkies, or drunks in a bar? It's nice to see someone from the 'outside' try and judge the Veeshanvault 'community' when they have no fucking clue what happens here.

There are social norms (ex: jackassing) that are distinct to this board. What you consider to be moral, ethical, or right doesn't necessarily mean that we see it YOUR way - and we have a right NOT to see it your way (or Samoseus').

My comments had very little to do with race, I was using a device called "contrast" to compare Zamtuk and Sam, and explain, why Samoseus's comments were not intended as "the threat" that Zamtuk made them out to be.

"Smart ass white boy" is a caricature, a distortion or cartoon like description of the way I percieve Zamtuk.

I would have never posted this, except that I happen to be fond of Sam, and he seemed to be taking OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of flack, being as he's an old guildmate and was always decent to me, and I felt compelled to jump down into the pit with him and back him up, even though, in retrospect, it was completely futile.

As to the other contention from another poster, I believe it was Hammerstalker, that I am an "outsider" to the Veeshan community, wrong! I just haven't played in ten months due to the fact that I was starting to sound too much like some of the people on this board after 250 days online.

Anyway, this is pointless, arguing on this board is like trying to swat flies in a cowpasture with a baseball bat.

First of all, it was the Veeshanvault community, not the Veeshan community. There is a large majority of the Veeshan community that neither know nor care what goes on here. Most of us who are here prefer it that way. This isn't a forum for level 35 newbies of people like yourself and Bemidian who just. don't. get. it.

As far as Sam goes, I've seen his pictures and I've read his posts. Know what, he's entitled to his opinions. What no one here is entitled to is making RL threats. If you can't compete in a battle of wits (what most good flamewars are) the gtfo because you don't belong here. So I don't care how big or bad he is, because it's irrelevant on these forums. If he wants to try to wax intellectual, and others want to disagree with him, they're entitled. If he doesn't like it, too fucking bad.

For the record asshole, I play EQ to have fun, and though I play the game the best I can, I don't derive any personal pride from it and I'm sure as hell not addicted to it. If however, you'd like to come out running or cycling with me some morning at 6AM, PM me and we can work that out. I take more pride/pleasure from that than I ever will from EQ.

The coolest thing about Samo is that he speaks from his heart, AND is unaffected by any rebuttal opinion posted afterwards. He's a damn good guy and someone Im happy to call friend. The thing I enjoy most about reading posts by him, is that there's no content between the lines, its all just right out there. Don't mistake that for lack of wit, what I perceive it to be, is being direct.

I suspect though, what was being conveyed in the post you are quoting Cart, is a reminder of sorts not to get so full of one's self on the feast of the text victory over a weaker opponent.
