Convertible Tops

The material attached to the glass of the rear window on my car looks rubbery like but it is peeling away from the glass, anyone know what adhesive convertible places use to reattached them?

Well my girlfriends back windshield just shattered on her convertable a few days ago and we are bringing it in today to get it fixed, so I will get back to you about it after I go to the shop.

I don't know if it will work but I had broken an aftermarket shift knob off my car (actually it's my 3rd knob in 6 months, I must be strnger than I thought).

Anyway I tried this stuff called "JB weld" like 2 days ago...seems to be holding quite well...I even gave it a decent yank today to verify. There wsa 2 varieties a quick one and the original...I used the original in-case it was stronger (if it's not stronger I don't know why they would go through the hassle of making both, seeing as they were the same price).

Anyway it took 6 hours to cure, you have two tubes and you mix similar amounts together before spreading it on. I used it to glue plastic to metal...both surfaces were smooth.

$3.99 at any auto parts store, I got it at pep boys but I've seen it at Kentucky Motors as well.

If you take it back to Ford to do the work, they'll replace the entire canvas panel that holds the glass (I had it done on my last sebring when the rear windshield shattered). As far as gluing the canvas back to the glass, any high quality silicone based sealant caulk should work ... 3M makes an adhesive called DP 8005 that's supposed to be perfect for the job (I'm assuming your top is cloth, not vinyl ... though this may work for either).

Just as a follow up I used "Goop Automotive" and it seems to be working.
