Interesting observation about Kerry and I think a valid issue about Hillary. Don't you think she would prefer to let GW win in 2004 so she has a clean slate in 2008? If so, when would you expect the Clinton dirty tricks operation against Kerry to begin?
The author also makes some valid distinctions that Iraq does not equate to Viet Nam if you care to read the whole blog.
I have to admit that I’m as impressed as I am disgusted. I get that same feeling when I see Kerry touted as a war hero. I know what a hero is, and Kerry isn’t one. He is a spin master reinventing himself like some changeling in a fantasy novel. I wonder if he will be able to reinvent himself when Hillary and company move in to destroy him politically so she won’t have to run against an incumbent Democrat in 2008. I suspect that will be happening pretty soon.
Aye Met. When the Clintons are involved you never know what is going to happen. Actually when it's politics in general you never know what is going to happen. At this time, the Clintons wield a lot of power. I still haven't ruled out the possibility of Hillary running for president this year. But, most likely you are right. They see that at this point after all the Bush bashing, the war being said to have gone badly in the media everyday, the prison abuse, the gas prices, etc.....Kerry should be way ahead, not tied or a point or 2 ahead. They see he isn't goign to win this thing. They will probably let the public see what he really is and Bush will be re-elected by 10+ points.
I'd disagree (surprise surprise) with that assessment. I don't think Kerry should be out ahead of Bush. You have to remember Bush had a big lead to start with coasting on the tailend of the 9/11 sympathy. The fact that you're in a wartime situation also polarizes the voters a lot, causing those who would otherwise be mostly indifferent or maybe against Bush to put themselves in his corner out of a misled sense of patriotic duty. I think with the string of incidents that have happened to deface Bush's character in the past, oh, let's say year and a half, most presidents would have been chewing sod. Bush's pegs are just being brought down from a higher point in the ladder.
Oh, and the fact that Kerry isn't exactly a stellar candidate isn't helping him either, I'll readily admit that. Still a better choice imo.
I think Bill Clinton was a kick ass president. So he got his polo polished in the oval office. You have to figure Kennedy nailed quite a few in the room himself. If Bill could have run again, I'd have voted for him. Of course when he was up against George SR. I voted for George.

At least, that what his daddy told him...
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
Hillary scares me. She seems devoid of emotions. When I think of a cold calculating bitch, I think of Hillary. I get the feeling she'd kill her daughter if it would make her president.
My understanding is that she doesn't look people in the eye when she does interviews. There's something fishy about her!

Guess you've never seen an interview with her.
As far as her being "cold," I don't see her acting much different than other politicians, beyond the fact that some are condescending in their fake niceities. I'd rather have what you call "cold" than some smiley jackass acting like he wants to be my buddy.
It also irritates me that some of you (yeah precisely you Winnow) expect females to be "emotional." Why is she supposed to be "emotional?" Do you expect other politicians to be "emotional?" When a woman in a profession doesn't act like your mom, you guys start calling her a "cold, calculating bitch." She has a job to do that doesn't involve baking you brownies and tucking you in at night. She is a politician, not a kindergarten teacher. But your misogyny precedes you Winnow, so I shouldnt be surprised.
All your "feelings" are bullshit. If you have some real reason for not liking her, so be it, but until you can back your reasons up with something other than "feelings" you shouldn't bother posting them.

It's personal preference and I didn't mean touchy feely emotions. I mean sense of humor etc. You don't need emotions to run a country but she seems too mechanical for me. I'd say the same thing if she was a man.
I'm not sure how why you would say my misogyny precedes me. I don't hate women and I don't look down on women in the least. The smarter the better. What were you referring to when you said my misogyny precedes me?
Very few politicians don't seem fake and contrived. They're always reciting pre-written answers that they prep themselves on daily so they can't be caught unawares. Or rather, the good politicians do. Then there are the ones that are just can't retain the info and end up looking like a boob.
Vor, did you see that special on PBS about Bush and the Christian Conservatives? I think it was called "The Jesus Factor"? It's very interesting if anyone caught it. From what they showed, Bush really believes that God wanted him to run for President...
From my belief system I believe this could be true as it would be part of a greater plan, he has been there for a reason... not sure what that was but... it's not that far of a jump for me I guess. But if you caught it, or anyone else for that matter, what were your thoughts?
