More on Moore

Post by Kylere »

Associated Press

Rep. Mark Kennedy, a Republican, is a little annoyed at leftist film maker Michael Moore after an edited version of an interview between the two appeared in the trailer for Moore's upcoming U.S. release of the film "Fahrenheit 9/11."

"I was walking back to my office after casting a vote, and all of a sudden some oversized guy puts a mike in my face and a camera in my face," Kennedy said. "He starts asking if I can help him recruit more people from families of members of Congress to participate in the war on terror."

Kennedy said he told Moore that he has two nephews in the military, one who has just been deployed in the Army National Guard.

But to Kennedy's annoyance, his response to Moore was cut from the trailer, which was released Thursday. His response was also cut from the film, according to a spokeswoman for the movie.

"The interesting thing is that they used my image, but not my words," Kennedy said. "It's representative of the fact that Michael Moore doesn't always give the whole story, and he's a master of the misleading."

A spokeswoman for the fiercely anti-Bush film, which has found a U.S. distributor after the Walt Disney Co. refused to release it, said she had no comment.

A transcript released by the film's producers shows Moore telling Kennedy that "there is only one member (of Congress) who has a kid over there in Iraq." He asks Kennedy to help him pass out literature encouraging others "to get their kids to enlist in the Army and go over to Iraq."

Kennedy replies, "I'd be happy to. Especially those who voted for the war. (As Kennedy did.) I have a nephew on his way to Afghanistan."

To which Moore replies: "I appreciate it."

Anne Mason, Kennedy's spokeswoman, later clarified that technically only one is a nephew. The other is his cousin's son, who is awaiting deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. But either way, Kennedy does have relatives in the military and may soon have more, because his college-aged son is considering entering the service, Mason said.

Yeah, it's like the left is trying to self-destruct and hand the election to Bush.

A tool whose only purpose is to embarass the very foundation of liberalism and democracy? Although I consider myself to be fairly moderate, on domestic issues I am downright liberal and also vote as a Democrat...but Michael Moore is a complete tool that is only succeeding in devalueing, embarassing and delegitimizing the left's argument/position

It's been said before, Moore is the Liberal Limbaugh.

People who agree with him will laugh and chuckle, but wince when they hear of him refered to as thier "champion".

Completely agree. While I think Limbaugh points out a lot of common sense solutions to things and points out many obvious liberal media inaccuracies, I often cringe at some of the way out there shit he says.

Bill Oreilly, Saen Hannity and Michael Savage are the same way. They make a lot of sense most of the time, then they start talking about religion and they lose me. I wonder how people who have such common sense and clarity still believe in such non-sense. Then again I won't find out for sure till I die whether it is non-sense or not hehe.

How many children of the people that decided to go to war are fighting it?

Is he editing to make his point? Sure.

Is it a valid topic to bring up? Sure.

However, wars have always been fought for the rich but fought by the poor. Nothing new here, just a reminder of an injustice that has existed for centuries.

If you have not realized it yet most right-wing conservatives are ignorant, radical christians. People who believe in ending the seperation between church and state, while holding similar views to saddam hussein in hoping that this nation would become a militant, even more authoritarian christian country where everyones lives would be forced to revolve around the hipocritical teachings of the bible.
Hence, i refuse to register republican, as i enjoy social freedoms to much, so i chose to register libertarian, becouse you would have to torture me before i would join the same party as rev. falwell or any of those other religious-right fucking nazis.

Saying Michael Moore is a champion of the left is like saying Daniel Carver is a champion of the right...or Midnyte.

A documentarian would have included the entire conversation. A propaganda filmmaker on a level not seen since Leni Riefenstahl would edit in that manner.

I am enjoying this election now, voting third party and laughing at the dumb people on both sides.

I'm sorry but Limbaugh fucking scares the shit out of me.
One time I listened to his show and he suggested that females should be in the army only if they go on monthly cycles for the service. Why monthly cycles? Because thats the time period of them having PMS. Btw this was a very serious argrument for Mr. Limbaugh and was discussed for at least a good 30 minutes.

This is actually a very modern occurance. Not so much on the poor side of things, but on the rich. It was really not that long ago, both in Europe and Asia, where the noblility were the central participants in war. Even at the start of the US, rich were still actively participating in war.
