Craziest/dumbest thing you did in Everquest

Post by Dups. »

Some might think this needs to be in the Everquest Generel Discussion Forum. However, this thread is for retired Everquest players as well and I am certain many do not check the EQGF anymore.

Anyhow, I was just thinking of a couple of things that I have done during my EQ days that were pretty crazy/dumb.

The first one was the obvious binding at the feet of the Broken Golem in the Plane of Fear for the last piece of my epic. Despite my explaining I was mis-informed of the actual repop time of the plane... it is one of my dumber moments lol

The second one not many people know about it but several were there to witness it. I was in the Circle of Eternity at the time and I beleive Cestus Dei was there as well. We were bored and saw that the Burrower had popped. We decided to kill it despite not needing all that much from it anymore. We were well passed this stage at this point. So we all gather and it was rather easy going. I decided it would be fun to invert gravity such a large mob. So I casted the spell half way through the fight and it actually landed lol.

The burrower was thrown up into the roof and as luck would have it. The damn thing got stuck in the ceiling. Now at the time everyone joked that it tried to run away and how shitty Sony was with pathing(that part I agreed). Eventually it warped back down to us and we killed it. Just thought I would come clean on what actually happened that time old guildmembers and allied friends :P

Anyhow, anyone else have any of those moments? :)

*disclaimer* Joining such and such a guild just because you had a bad experience with them or just because you want to flame them. As well, saying you played the game for # of years does not really qualify as craziest/dumbest thing you've done in EQ but go ahead and post it if you are that hard up on material.

Craziest: Charging fear, solo, on my horse, half buffed with more buffs fading, to solo break the zone in.

Dumbest: Reinstalling the game after I quit in dec.

As Chub Underbush the mighty halfling rogue, I climbed one of the wizard spires in GF to test my Safefall. Needless to say, it wasn't too safe. 10000 points of damage hurts.

i guess it's kind of dumb, i would summon up a spit from the collapsable spit and delete the collapsable spit instead of the spit it summons. i've had to buy a handful of em for the same reason.

also in my lower levels (20 something or 30 something) i found some summoned 100% WR bags on the gruond. took em and bought all my spells for the next spell level. i logged off before dinging to mem them.

All my 20k falls. My multi falls in the first month EQ came out off the ledge in WK coming from Highpass.

Then my numerous falls going to Kael in EW.

Then my numerous attempts to float down into The Hole :)

I'd like to nominate the necro /split of mass amounts of copper on a grav fluxing mob, killing a large part of the raid force as one of the craziest things ever.

For me, it's tied between letting Ransure pull and following Tehom anywhere...

Actually to be honest the most stupid thing I did in EQ was back when Kunark was young and I still held out hope that Paladins would have value to guild other than to LoH the clerics or main tank was to take 30k hard earned PP and get it all together on my pally, walk slowly to the banker to deposit it when the person selling me a Sword of Morning wanted to meet in FV. So I handed it quickly to the banker and started to run to meet my port, when I realized that I had HANDED it to the banker and clicked Okay rather than depositing it.

I was actually crushed.

when i didnt take a cloak of flames and other goodies for my mosscovered twig from FoH members before it was nerfed to utter shit.

believing that this trader..(he was a guy who bought high levels all the time..he was really dumb..names evade me i've kinda let it go) was going to send me 500 dollars for my runed bolster belt. That piece of shit :) I lost the belt becuase we had talked like honest men and I let him have my belt before i ever received my money...pricks :P

Making so many characters - I always had all 8 slots of characters filled up

I had a 50 or so druid, 56 warrior , 46 enc, 44 wiz, etc etc. If I kept to one character I probably would have experienced FoH-like end games.

I think one of the dumber moves was making a druid in hopes of joining FoH - nobody needed druids at the time. But on the flip side, a druid was sooo awesome in terms of flexibility for your other chars, you could port friends/SoW anyone/SoW yourself/powerlevel like a motherfucker :)

going to sleep the night my pickup raid beat Nagafen, where Erny kinda ninjalooted it and logged off. Those pickup raids I made were crazy..so much bullshit going on at once - /who all 47 52 cleric while im raiding trying to get more people, it was so much multitasking - i loved it but kinda got burnt out on it.

as for my account , i let my friend Chugs borrow some of my stuff and i doubt my chars have anything worth value on them, but i discontinued my account over a year or two ago.

Dumbest? Playing the game for so long, my lifes OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS more fun with hanging out with friends on the weekends instead of doing 10 hour raids with pixels. But I do miss much of the EQ community that had humorous things to say :)

Craziest thing? tricking my former guild into thinking ntov/ww were shutting down in 5 minutes in aary's pit. I completly forgot who did that first.

Dumbest? Probably making a druid and leveling him. If I stuck to my monk the whole time Ide be in the high end raid level.

pulling one of our first dragon necropolis raids one night when I lost connection and couldn't get back in. The next day I logged in, alone and lost, way down deep in the rat man area. I thought I was fucked for sure but after running, sneaking and feigning my way around that hellhole for about an hour I finally made it to the zone out, alive and in one peice

cr'ing my guild every night back when we were the second guild to hunt in tov... my "/gu consent me" hotkey probably shaved several hours of typing time off my life during this period

pulling to pom our first time stepping foot into north wing with a force of 18 people... no named were up but I had no idea where I going... A Defenders everywhere you looked... and then......... popple dop!

going commando all alone into sleepers tomb and creeping up to the MoTG and Prog to see if and what they were weilding... death = pray for sleeper keyed rogue and cleric to log in before your rez window expires... because if they don't buh bye items!

As for myself, the first thing that comes to mind was using my evade macro the first Tunare kill. I had disarm on it to skillup and I managed to disarm her and the weapon dropped on the ground, and someone picked it up. Shitstorm ensued.

fuck how could i forget my our AE groups - AE was so much fun. That had to be the craziest for sure...teaching random newbie wizards/enchanters/clerics how to AE...shit, i researched scrolls and everything(the hard to get AE spells at like level 16 and stuff) just so wizards could unleash the power of AE! =]
