RC Helicopter Video

Post by noel »

I suppose this is one way to spend your time... Kind of cool video of a man and his toy helicopter. A friend linked me to it, and I figured one of you jackasses would enjoy it...

Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

I had no idea helicopters could physcially do that.

I guess the difference between that model and a real helicopter is the model has a tremendously greater power to weight ratio.

Well, the pilot in a real helicopter would be really dizzy even if he had the same power/weight.

And some of those moves would be pretty high G.

Then there are the shearing forces on body parts (the neck for example, which needs to be free to rotate through a wide ROM to acquire targets) due to differential acceleration...

Not sure about P:W ratio, but no pilot could survive those maneuvers wthout a G suit and total joint immobility...

Hrrrm might be able to design a g suit variant linked to fly-by-wire to immobilize in the correct axis immediately prior to execution of the maneuver...

Even then sudden pressure on the neck...

The controller is pretty good at that. I do wonder how many crashes he went through before getting the correct touch.

It's almost as if the guy doesn't know what the hell he is doing and just trying to keep that thing aloft as best he can. Got me dizzy after the first 2 minutes.
