Songs that come with a distinct memory!

Post by Rivera Bladestrike »

I saw the other thread about flipping shit and all, and it gave me the idea, what songs do you have embedded in your memory that seem to always take you back to a memory whenever you hear it.

For me, that song, "Hey hey hey, Goodbye", i remember singing as my bus drove me away from my school on the final day of school. I knew that'd be the last day I'd ever see any of those friends I had made again because I was moving the very next day to a new town. I was in tears...

"Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company. I finally got together with my dream girl in high school while that song was playing on a warm summer night 23 years ago. That song always takes me back to that moment.

George Clinton: Atomic Dog

Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me

A college era weekend down at Rocky Point, Mexico. I had wild sex with some beautiful woman and remember that song on the dance floor before we hit the beach to do the deed then we slept on the big rocks along the beach till dawn. I don't remember her name and I'm not sure if I ever knew it to begin with but that song brings back a clear memory of her and that fun night.

I met someone else the next night but there's no song related to it so the memory isn't as clear.

i am not a big STP fan, but i was at spring break in cancun during college standing on the beach next to about a 40 ft stone wall, at the top of which was a swimming pool.

i was on acid

up at the pool STP's "Interstate Love Song" was playing, but it was from a distance, and i was hearing the music as the sound had bounced off of surfaces to reach me....so it sounded distant and had a different quality. i looked up, and my friend was in the pool, hanging over the edge with a bottle of red liquid. it was some liquor drink that was in a plastic bottle that was part of some pool basketball game the resort had going. he took a big swig and threw it down to me.

i caught it, and pounded what was left in the bottle. sun shining on my face, wet salty hair drying to my forhead. drops running down from my mouth, to chin, then to my shoulder. tasted like Kool Aid to me.

mmm, clear as a bell i remember that =). that is the only STP song i have burned to a CD, but that CD has stayed in my car changer for years :p

"Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla, it was playing on the radio when some friends and I pulled off the highway onto the strip at Ocean City at like 2am. We were 15-16, had told our parents we were sleeping at another's house and took off for the beach 3 hours away. Probably one of the best trips ever, didn't involve drugs or booze, just the fact that we got away from our parents and had a blast on the beach for a night and day... good old freedom for teenagers. I still remember being so fucking nervous somebody's parents would not let one of our friends "sleep over" at another's house. We were all at pay phones at some mall strip heh.

The only song I can think of right now that brings back a distinct memory is Quiet Riot's "Cum on Feel the Noize". My best friend in middle school and I had birthdays one day apart in October. For our 13th birthday party we were having a bonfire in my backyard. The party really wasn't all that fun, not many people were there, but I remember that this song was playing as I was running full tilt back out to the party from the house when I stepped in a hole in the yard, doing a flip in the air. I was quite the hit of the party after that little stunt and I still laugh when I think about it or hear that song to this day.
