WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration has stripped information on a range of women's issues from government Web sites, apparently in pursuit of a political agenda, researchers reported on Wednesday
You little ladies take those shoes off and go cook us something...
What's really scary is that there's a significant portion of the population that will support indefensible actions like this just because Bush is their guy, right or wrong.
who cares, his ass is out the white house in november anyway. he'll be back in the ranch his daddy bought him snorting coke and drinking himself to death in no time. it will take a little while for kerry to fix everything the bush administration broke though.

GOP is scared though. they've already spent over half of their insane $225+ million dollars on TV buys.
Iraq is really taking a bad turn right now too. It is not worth an election for it to go bad, and i haven't heard any Democrat suggest they hope it does go bad, because it would be a disaster.
But it is obvious that the Defense Dept and White House through their arrogance has put the troops in a bad spot. The military leadership on the ground has been asking for more troops for over a year. I remember Gen Don Sheppard who was a CNN analyst during the war saying that he would have never started this type of operation without doubling the number of troops on the ground. Oh yeah, Colin Powell had double the troops on the ground in the first gulf war and suggested the same here. Rumsfeld and Cheney's arrogance that their warplan and world view (iraqis woud welcome us as liberators) was so fullproof no contingency planning was needed has the potential to turn this into a complete unmitigated dissaster for the US.
Bush is complicitous in this because he either abdicated responsibility on the critical decision making, or supported it.
John McCain said on CNN last week that last fall when he was in Iraq that "every commander, general, " said they needed more troops.
now all of a sudden when the shit hits the fan it is potentially too late to reinforce the way that we needed to for over a year now, the administration extends the stay of an infantry division. The responsibility for that rests squarely at the top of the chain of command, because all the way from the platoon level to the pentagon for a year people have been asking for more boots on the ground.
the best thing that could happen for this war would be Kerry winning.
we would immediately be able to get other countries to contribute substantiall more in the way of troops to help us secure the place, which would also massively increase the legitimacy of the occupation in the minds of the Iraqis, which would decrease the recruiting power of the insurgents.
of course 7 months is a long time. things could be good there, or really bad by then.
to be fair though, this does look like a good potential solution. We did not need the marines pushing the insurgents into the Tigris from their current positions leaving a swath of destruction in their wake.
hopefully this will accomplish 2 very important things, 1. calm the situation in Fallujah and 2. minimize civilian casualties.
every civilian casualty from now on is going to equal 5 recruits for the insurgents, if not worse.
Hm didn't the Iraqi brigades originally refuse to go into Fallujah with the US Marines because they didn't want to fight Iraqis?
Honestly I hope it works but it really doesn't seem to be part of any real "plan". And if the Iraqi Brigades suffer the same desertion/infiltration rate as the police force (I saw 40% desertion, 10% actively working against the coalition quoted) this will make things worse.
It's Bush's fault as the CinC of all US armed forces. There is no way for him to duck this.
If any of you actually believe that John Kerry has fixes for any of America's problems, you got another thing coming. He's cut from the career politician cloth as Dubya, just in Liberal Blue instead of NeoCon Red.

I think it's more a case of people thinking that Kerry wont get the US into as many completely fucked up situations as Dubya.... lesser of 2 evils and all that.
I've got 99 problems and I'm not dealing with any of them - Lay-Z
And also that the international community has zero support, trust, or respect for Bush...and subsequently will provide zero assistance in anything outside of US borders.
Plus Kerry doesn't have to check with the religious fundies everyday before he takes a dump. I can't even begin to express how fucking sick I am of the God agenda fucking up my party.

you guys need to vote for moderate republicans in primaries and stuff.
the big problem with both parties is that, it is hard to even become a canddidate without a certain amount of sucking up to the extremeists.

I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary. While not exactly a moderate, at least he wasn't sucking up to the fundie meshbacks.

Good point, Kerry is doing much better at this point in time then clinton was against bush 1, if things continue to progress as they have been, Bush will loose in possibly a landslide.
I do see this being a very close race either way though

The only way Bush will win at this point are one of two scenarios Metanis.
1) The magic Bin Laden manuever- Bin Laden will "mysteriously" be captured just before the election. This is entirely likely already going to happen and has been planned in advance. Despite the obvious (that if an old guy dragging around a difibulator in the barren afghan mountains was catchable at all, he would have been nabbed by now) won't matter, as the fence riding sheep will follow the chorus of self stroking the neocons will be doing very publicly.
2) Fix the vote- They did it in florida and now diebold is running half the tabulation machines in the nation. Somehow, being major contributors to the Bush campains does not make them susceptable to bias or bribe, even though they have resisted proof that their system is easily hackable and any demads to keep a paper trail of votes. This is less likely to happen, as I think you would see a fucking civil war over it and even the obstenant neocons are aware of how people see them on this issue (as can be seen by them stomping out any press relating to the debacle in florida last time out). Also, I don't think that Bush supporters are going to be able to get away with having police stop black motorists near voting booths like they did last election.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
the only thing that would absolutly keep me from voting for Kerry right now is if he ran with Hillary (Rush says she's bad). then again i still don't think i would vote for Bush. i'm interested to find out who Kerry picks.
My goal is to live forever. So far so good.
