Origins

Post by Kwonryu DragonFist »

There has been questions about Origin, so here it is!

When deciding origin at the beginning of the game, remember that they dictate what kind of missions/contacts you get, what opponents you will mostly fight and what kind of enhancements you can use.

This will be escpecially important in the beginning since many people prefer not to fight a certain kind of enemy(which they consider more powerful and deadly than the others).

Storyline will change and some opponents can change things for your hero in the story(for the worse hehe).

Origin also have some similarities to race in EQ.

Later in the game, when good enhancements start to drop (think of them as items), your Origin will decide what enhancements you can use.

In the beginning, enhancements that everyone can use will drop.

In the mid-game, things called Dual Origin Enhancements will start to drop(restricted to two origins, for example Relics can only be used by Magic and Naturals).

Later in the game, Single Origin Enhancements will drop, which concentrate on a single origin(Cybernetics for Tech-Origin for example).

Compare this to War only or Ogre only items hehe.

You can of course Buy the enhancements you want from specific origin stores as well as sell, and trade with other heroes.

They increase in price of course, SO's will cost you OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS, so trading with the friends is important.

That is all you have to think about when choosing an Origin in the creation of your char and of course picking the Origin that suits best to your story! :)

Hope someone can make a good list of what origins/archetypes get to fight what. From a RP perspective my Chessmaster is agains 5th Column, so would prefer to get their missions, and i would HATE to have to go up agains robots in the start of the game.

If i remember correctly,

To fight 5th Column(The Nazis) as quickly as possible, go Natural.

For Circle of Thorn Mages and Hellions, go Magic.

For the Robots, go Technology.

For the Undead Vahzilok and one more faction, go Science

For the Lost and Skulls, go Mutant

I'm 100 % on 5th Column, Circle of Thorns and the Clockwork Robots, but i might have mixed up the rest heh.

This is merely for the beginning though!

Later on you will meet new types of factions...

you got it right Kwon. Science is Undead. As a hint. . .do not be a science mind controller as I was because mind control does dick against undead and that I what I fought. . .made for some interesting solo missions.

Mutant was definitely Skulls, Hellions might be the other one for Mutant, not sure, only got to level 5 in the storyline. But there was a Skulls/Hellions gangwar I think.

I made a couple heroes of different origins, and they all faced the hellions a couple times. I was going out of atlas park for all of them, so maybe they are locale rather than origin based?

Dont let the gang type block you from choosing an origin that fits your background. Its the worst thing in the world to make a robotic character be a mutant just cause you dont feel like being a techy and have to deal with clockworks. Remember, origin choice only affects your missions for a small portion of your character's life. If you have problems finishing these missions, youre forgetting that this game isnt single player, find a group and deal with it.
