Don't ride the Maidens Voyage!!!

Post by Fredonia Coldheart »

Took my daughter's cleric to FV to catch the boat into TD for the next part of her epic and got stuck on the boat for over 9 hours before a guide finally showed up to answer our petition!

I bounced in and out of chat and when we were at 2 hours of waiting there were others in chat who had been waiting 10+ hours.

What was really frustrating is that I was taking her with my druid!

All boats are this way, If you stand remotely close to the port on docks it will sweep you up, leaving you unable to move. My wizard is stuck after I tried to get a friend and got a tad too close.

That was a hell of a ship.

Boats are cool, at least the first time you're on them, assuming they work.

They more often then not they don't.

The Maiden's Voyage (AKA The Arb's Bane) once trapped me on/in its bow for 4 hours...It ran over me on one of the launches as I was heading to BBlock...And would not lemme go...:/

It regularly dropped me in the water on zoning or ran over me...

Definitely.. first time I logged into Kunark and saw that ship I was like, holy shit. Those elves can build a boat! Then the disappointment came that it was so ripe for possibilities with all the empty space and nooks/crannies and yet so unused and empty. (like so much EQ content)

Still remember the first time I saw the waterfall in East Karana as well. Was almost a year after I started playing EQ. Didn't even know there was a dock there, let alone a huge waterfall.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

(Going from fuzzy memory) Go to the south wall of the zone and it's east of the dock. You can't get to it, but you can see it. It's as far in that direction as you can go before you start climbing the 'mountain'. It's pretty friggin' big. Well, big by original EQ release standards. Before the days of oversized boats and wizard spires.
