Bonds is just sick! Intersting stat for the stat fiends
Wells is the 395th pitcher to surrender a homer to Bonds
. That's kinda nuts

Roids might make you hit further. It wont do jack or shit when it comes to actually hitting the ball. He has an instinct for hitting that is insane, and I don't even like baseball!

Sorry but he's being tested, no roids this year. Also where's the body breakdown (think McQuire, Giambi and a thousand football players from the 80's). Massbuilders, yes, he has admitted to them, roids, I don't know and neither do you. The point is, what the man does with his bat is something you may hate now, but just like Ted Williams, in 30 years, you'll be telling people you saw one of the best ever.

My point is, due to the sheer amount of chemical enhancers that are available to athletes nowadays, to me, accent on "to me", I can never call them "one of the best" or "the best ever". I will always admire guys who were able to do these things without help from chemicals.

Sorry, I did use "roids" as a generic statement for body enhancing chemicals that were in use by certain athletes that Bond's trainer is in trouble for...I just get aggrevated that the media has forgotten all about that stuff.

i hate barry bonds

i think he used steroids

he is also one of the best hitters ever, and it is crazy how locked in he has gotten in the last few years.

it is a shame that people like Mays, Ruth and Aaron will have their achievements eclipsed by somebody like Bonds though. The ball is juiced now, the mound is lower, the ballparks are smaller, the pitching is more diluted, and the players are juiced too.

as a Braves fan, i selfishly want Aaron to stay at the top at 755, but i think that is pretty unlikely.

Bonds is one of the all-time greatest baseball players, and there is no way around that.

As a Braves fan, you are still seriously pissed at Jim Leyland for blocking the trade that would have sent Bonds to Atlanta back in '93 or '94.

my understanding is that the Braves players met w/ Schurholtz and told him that they didnt want Bonds on the team.

1.342 slugging percentage. Jesus. He's officially scared the shit out of every single pitcher and manager this season.

Best modern day hitter and he almost never strikes out for a power hitter to boot. Maybe not Mattingly-like discpline, but still. Roids don't make you see the ball better

I remember when he went to the Giants, his number was Willie Mays number that is retired in SF. I think he took half that number as his own in SF and I remember joking about how he should take half May's number since he is half the player Mays was. (I may bit a little off on the numbers but I think it was close). :?

edit: Nope im way off, maybe I suggested he should take half the number lol.

No im not sorry for wasting your time with that

I still hold to the opinion that the only way to successfully pitch to Bonds, is to throw it at him. Maybe if he gets plunked enough he'll start to get a little gunshy, then you may be able to get some strikes by him.

You never see anyone come up and in on Bonds. Throw him some chin music. Make him fall to the ground to avoid the pitch. Instead of giving him an intentional pass, plunk him in the thigh. Pitchers need to make him afraid to come to the plate. Instead of pitching around him, throw at him.

All those homeruns aren't translating into wins so far this year. It's a sideshow circus...

Yeah right,

Look at all that padding and body armor

Image

Sholders, arms, wrists, knees, legs... he is fully protected and scared of nothing. Brush back pitches just piss him off.

There are 2 real good spots to hit him. Throw fastballs at his ankles and watch him to to limp to 1st. Then after plunking him 3 or 4 times (and if he manages to keep his cool and not charge the mound) in the ankles you can rip one off at his head.

Anyone that wears that much body armor should not complain at all about being hit. Why waste 4 pitches when you can put him on first with just 1? AND you feel better when you plunk someone intentionally. It is a win-win.

If I remember correctly he was hit by a pitch and missed quite a bit of time, now maybe we should check it for robotics!

Problem is, baseball doesn't give a shit. They lowered the mound and allowed body armor essentially. Unless you throw at the head, who cares. In addition, he pretty much has the smallest strike zone going is baseball today. However, his wrists turn so goddamn fast, it's nuts

Bonds chipped a bone in his elbow after being hit by his 8th pitch in 14 games, he came back after wearing armor. Best thing is watching him use it, I saw someone throw at his back, and he actually pushed his elbow back and deflected it off the armor to avoid the hit in the back... fucking Ninja move

If I managed a team against the Giants, I'd have every pitcher introduce Mr. Bonds' head to Mr. Spalding. Assuming that I have a big 1st baseman to intercept Bonds if he rushes the plate. A roid rage is a terrible thing, but would make a great TV snippet.

Bonds isn't gonna catch Ruth or Aaron this year, but can you say .400. He was only 14 hits shy of doing it last season.
