Kill Bill 2
Excellent fucking movie. I liked the first one better, but this one still held it's own and will still probably be one of the best movies of the year. The writing was brilliant matched with a great soundtrack.
spoiler:
the ending showdown with Bill was a complete disappointment. i was expecting some huge fight with swords and what not, but was left with a 15 second (albeit a nice 15 seconds) tussle.

I thought it rocked. I absolutely loved Budd(Mike Madsen is a bomb actor) and his story, and the scene with Budd, Elle, and The Bride. There is little fighting in it at all, just 1 main fight scene really. There was far more dialogue and humour in this one. I liked it about the same as the first, but for different reasons. The soundtrack is killer also. If you like QT's previous flicks, you will like this.

Having read the original script, I'm pretty disappointed with this flick. It looks like those fucks at Miramax told Tarrantino to cut it down to all be in one movie, then changed their minds, but told him not to shoot any new scenes.
So we ended up with 30 minutes of fluff dialogue at the end. Which is logical when you give a writer/director who loves hearing his characters talk as much as Quentin 2 months to add shit. And we didn't even get the fucking money shot, the Sunrise Samurai Showdown! WE BEEN CHEATED!!!
Semi-spoiler:
In the early draft, Go-go has a younger sister, who follows the Bride back to California after the Tokyo hit. Before she finds Uma, she does all sorts of touristy shit, like going to Disneyland, that Chinese theatre, the walk of fame, ect. They could have had 10 montage with a 20 minute fight, but instead, we get to listen to the EXTENDED version of the initial massacre and the REALLY EXTENDED version of Bea and Bill TALKING (not fighting) at the end.
If you're interested, there is a full version of the script HERE.

Hehe, Hero finally coming in the US?
We had it around 1 year ago in Denmark, i got it on DVD already.
For some reason US SUCKS at importing foreign movies, it was the same with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which as you recall sold well and got nominated (cant remember if it won) an Oscar.
We had that released in DK over a year before too.
There are some advantages to that though, i play on HSX (http://www.hsx.com), and i got stocks in both Crouching Tiger and now in Hero, while US knew nothing about them

Did you even fucking read the script? If you did, you'd know your Sunrise Samurai Showdown isn't anything special. He just runs up to her, she blocks, then does that 5 point palm exploding heart thing (10 points in the script, was changed to 5 in the movie). If they had done that, it would have been too typical and expected. The fact that their last fight occured while they were sitting down was great and unpredictable. And we didn't even get the fucking money shot, the Sunrise Samurai Showdown! WE BEEN CHEATED!!!

if you choose to separate the movies, the 2nd is very different from the first, but still brilliant tarantino. i thought daryl hannah was fantastic. madsen was great, for some reason i kept waiting for him to go apeshit, mr. blonde style. the kid who played the daughter was just adorable.
i enjoyed both volumes vary muchly.

I enjoyed the movie. It's more dialogue driven but it still flows nicely. I personally liked Bill's Comparison of Superman to The bride. That whole scene was pretty intense right up to the final fight (It was a short fight scene but there was only so long QT could keep it going without it looking ridiculus).

I know the scene on the beach (as it was in the orig. script) was short, but the duration isn't the issue I had with the last scene.
The fact that both the Bride and Bill showed enough respect for each other to NOT simply start mixing it up inside the house shows that both characters, while not moral, are at least honorable adversaries. This was shown in the first film by Bill's order to Elle NOT to poison Bea while she was comatose, but the sudden attack while sitting in the garden was neither honoroable nor dramatic.

No doubt. They could totally spin that character into his own flick.Addecus_Subtractucus wrote:Pei Mei made this movie.
That is all.

I thought From Dusk Till Dawn was QT's worst film by far. He claims Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill as his own. I never hear him take credit for films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Four Rooms, or movies he wrote/produced, such as True Romance, Natural Born Killers, Killing Zoe, ect.
I DLed a Hero DVD rip the other day and it was pretty good, if not a bit overdone. I've always been a sucker for Jet Li flicks though.

Quentin and Martial Arts is not an "all of a sudden thing"
Rent Iron Monkey and watch his introduction. The man loves martial arts films, and knows a good bit about them.
As far as the other films Fair, I know he didn't write most of Four Rooms, and I don't think he did Dusk Till Dawn either. All of those films it was either one or the other. (I could be wrong though)

Wasn't each segment of Four Rooms done by a different director?

wayy too much dialogue for that kind of movie, first one was a thousand times better, I would give this movie 2-3 stars max.
The bearded martial arts dude and bud (somewhat) were the only redeeming parts of the film.
*Slight spoiler*
What the fuck was with that looooong ass dragged out opening scene at the wedding rehersal?
I was also very disapointed with the bill confrontation, and his charicter in the 2nd film in general, his attitude came off a lot differently in the 1st movie for some reason.

2 very interesting movies.. I watched the first Kill Bill and it ended about 20 minutes before the 2nd one was starting in the theatre.
The first was absolutely brutal (literally speaking).. good movie, so bloody I almost puked (no help from the KFC I was eating). Primarly action and less storyline; after it was over I actually enjoyed it more after I gave it some thought, and was anticipating the 2nd
The 2nd movie I really liked over the first, probably just me, but the way it was written (less chopping of limbs, more story) sucked me right into the movie. I loved how QT drew out the scenes really long actually, like the bridal scene at the start, the burial/training with pai mei, and the final superman scene where the movie ends.. there was a lot of long drawn out dialog's that I found myself not even blinking through. One of the best movies I've seen in a really long time
