Damn, HIV, Abstinence and Porn

Post by Adex_Xeda »

Have you guys seen this story?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/ ... 2200.shtml

CBS wrote:
At least 45 men and women were under voluntary quarantine because they had sex with the HIV-positive performers or their sex partners, said Sharon Mitchell of the nonprofit Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.

The first performer to test positive was “conscientious” about having HIV tests every three weeks, she said. Last week, he tested positive for HIV and a follow-up test confirmed it, Mitchell said.

Mitchell also confirmed that one of about a dozen women the performer had sex with in films also tested HIV-positive.

....

The last industry HIV scare was in 1999, when a male performer tested positive for the disease. He no longer performs and no other performers were infected. Before that, a male performer infected five women in 1998.

The porn industry has literally billions of dollars riding on keeping their actors clean. Individual actors can have their career destroyed by not keeping clean.

If anyone in this world is on top of avoiding STDs it's the porn industry, and they failed repeatedly in the past half decade.

You know this is the kind of thing I'd be showing my teenage kid. This is the information that they should be armed with so they can better consider the risks of engaging in sex.

Stuff like this hammers the teen abstinence angle based on purely secular arguements.

If you've had sex with 5 people, according to the CDC, you have been exposed to herpes. 3 million new cases of chlamydia and 5 million new cases of trichomonaisis are reported each year. Over 800,000 have HIV, which kills half the people who get it.

Typical chance of infection from exposure to an STD is doubled for women. I was appalled by the number of girls I slept with in college who actually thought that being on birth control was all they needed to worry about, and let guys come in them.

If you're not in a monogamous relationship, and you're having unprotected sex, you're playing Russian roulette with your unit. Nobody likes condoms, but the thought of running sores on my cock is about the worst thing I can imagine. God bless whoever invented durex.

In my younger days in the military and then later in college, sex was awesome and plentiful. Then I got married.

Yeah its amazing how stupid young people can be when it comes to sex. But then there are people on this board who shrug off condoms as I recall from a post I made awhile back about them. Like you, getting an STD scares the crap out of me.

The sad thing is condoms wont completely protect against herpes. A benefit of oral before intercourse is it gives you a chance to "inspect" the person for any sores.

The sadder thing is that most people infected with HPV do not have symptoms (e.g. sores). You can have the disease for your whole life without even knowing it. There's no cure and the treatment for the warts is not pleasant. Imagine having your warts burned off your genitals using acid or liquid nitrogen. Or better yet, lanced off with a laser.

Many people who are sexually active already have the HPV. They just don't know it. That's not sad, it's scary.

Why do women get paid more than men in the porn industry? You'd think the gun would be worth more than the holster!

nm! I know that answer to this one.

The trick is fitting that into the smallest holster possible. if it didn't fit you'd have to find a good rack to use.

A 22-year-old Canadian actress he worked with after returning to the United States, also has tested positive for HIV. The woman has worked in the adult film industry for only three months.

Tell the pope to die of old age, being shot, or aids...once he is dead, maybe the roman catholic church will stop telling the globe to stop using condoms..

Maybe, although I doubt it! I thank god I'm jewish every day

The Los Angeles Times identified the performers as actor Darren James and actress Lara Roxx.

C-D list porn star female talent, but I know of Darren James. There aren't too many men in professional porn, so I figured I'd know him if I saw a name.

http://secure.avn.com/index.php?Primary ... t_ID=80996

I found that article on AVN. It's an interview with Roxx. James is still missing, as this article explains.

http://secure.avn.com/index.php?Primary ... t_ID=80820

As a side note, male actors may not get paid as much as the females per scene, but they do more scenes and almost always go into directing/producing/distributing thier own movies, which VERY few females have done. So, in the end, the men have the opportunity to make more than the average female porn star.

In the span of probably a week, two of my friends that are female found out they had herpes. As I was consoling them as best I could, I found out a little bit about the disease and as you said above, it's scary as heck. I was freaked out how easy it is to get this and how you could have it and not even know. I love sex and such, but damn if it's not just really scary out there now-a-days.
