Where are you on the political map?
Harvard is doing an informal political study. Take the quiz (very short) HERE and log your results in this poll! I'm kinda curious how VV pans out, politically.
Me...I'm a secular centrist, it seems.
If I left off any group in the study, let me know...
edit, becahs tiping > mee

Religious centrist, which is odd, because I beleive that religion should have no role in government and I'm not concerned about gay marriages.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

You are a Traditional Liberal. Traditional liberals like you tend to be:
Against pre-emptive strikes as a policy.
Strongly supportive of gay rights.
Of the belief that immigration has been good for this country.
Supportive of affirmative-action.
Oppose tax cuts as an economic policy.
Of the belief that basic health insurance is a right.

Yeah it's a retarded test. "DO YOU SUPPORT INVADING OTHER COUNTRIES? YES/NO"
if you pick no it puts you in the liberal category.
it's also a pretty loaded question. speaking as someone who is more left than I am right, I would still support invading another country pre-emptively if said country's leader was pounding on his podium and demanding the deaths of everyone in my homeland while simultaneously building up his military to wartime proportions. I would not however invade a country with no evidence of any military at all and a leader who hasn't mentioned anything about my country in 10+ years.
There's only one question that would really seperate you from being a secular conservative or a religious conservative.
this test is more like a set of questions asking if you like Bush or not. I thought Harvard was a good university. This is terrible.

You are a Traditional Conservative. Traditional conservatives like you tend to be:
Supportive of pre-emptive strikes.
Of the belief that gay relationships are morally wrong.
In support of religion playing a more important role in government.
Opposed to affirmative action.
Of the belief that tax cuts tend to stimulate the economy.
this test is stupid, i responded against pre-emptive strikes, in support of gays, and nuetral to religion in gov't. it needs more details to be accurate.

One thing that bugs me. Traditional Conservatives, to my knowledge, are not ones to advocate pre-emtive attacks (neocons do however) and the whole religious moral compas thing got introduced by Reagan. Maybe I am off base, here, but when I think of traditional conservative, people like Nixon, Eisenhower, and the like. Newt and Dole were traditional conservatives (though the Jesus Crispies made poor Beltway Bob bow down to them), but certainly not that supercorperation sitting in the White House now. That questionaire really is pretty stacked with loaded questions.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Dwight Eisenhower

...because being predjutice against gays, yearning for a militant christian country and supporting the invasion of innocent countrys makes you smart, long term thinkers...Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:The quiz seems to work fine the way it is. You are a Secular Centrist. Secular centrists like you tend to be:
Strongly supportive of gay rights.
Believe strongly in the separation of church and state.
Less supportive of affirmative action than most college students.
Less likely to be concerned about the environment than most college students.
Less likely to believe in basic health insurance as a right than most college students.

Holy shit, you mean you're in a minority? Actually, I don't think anything could be more comforting to the rest of us =pMidnyte_Ragebringer wrote:The quiz seems to work fine the way it is. It clearly seperates the smart, long-term thinkers from the short-sighted, not so bright people.

The quiz is far too short and pretty much everyone probably saw something in the list of things they tend to believe that didn't gel. I sure as shit don't believe affirmative action helps minorities and it screws over people who deserve placements reserved for said minorities.
