I got a kick out of this Fox News article

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,115045,00.html

Part of it reads:
"You've got a real credibility problem," John Lehman, former Navy secretary under President Reagan, told Clarke, calling the witness "an active partisan selling a book."
That's all fine. A lot of people have been calling Clarke names this week and accusing him of different things. This Lehman guy must really dislike Clarke. Let's look at the whole transcript

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/ar ... Mar24.html
And because of my real genuine long-term admiration for you, I hope you'll resolve that credibility problem, because I'd hate to see you become totally shoved to one side during a presidential campaign as an active partisan selling a book.

McDonald's wasn't allowed to call their shakes milkshakes unless they actually contained milk. Yet Fox persists in calling their product news.

At least chocolate shakes are tasty!

You really don't wanna know. As far as I can tell, it's some sort of synthetic foam. For real. Take a chocolate shake from McDonald's, or an Arby's jamocha shake or Wendy's frosty, and just let it sit, open, on a counter for a couple of days. It'll dehydrate and puff like styrofoam. Totally fkn strange - not like any sort of dairy product at all.

Arby's Black Cow Shakes are the win! I think they're regional though. I only see them offered in certain states.

Edit: NM I did some research!
One of Arby's most popular milkshakes in the late 60's and early 70's included the "Black Cow", which is a shake made with the base syrup of root beer. The "Black Cow" is still very popular is some parts of the country. Many people have always asked how we ever came up with the name "Black Cow". Well, after some research we have found the answer. You see, at the time most Arby's served only RC Cola, and other RC Cola products which included Hires Root Beer. Hires Root Beer advertising mascot was a black cow (See left) Thus the name "Black Cow" shake, and the name has stuck ever since.
I don't recall Arbys ever winning any advertising awards. McDonalds would have named their Quarter Pounder "Freaky Clown" if they used their mascott to name items on the menu.

I got them all the time in Nevada. It's been awhile. I'm not 100 percent sure but I think I got one in Scottsdale (Pavillians Arbys). They're good!

I just noticed that cow's grill looks like a happy face! They should have patented it! I wonder if the "Have a Nice Day" guy stole it.

lol, when things arnt going there way, conservatives bitch at the "liberal media", which they can only detect.
I have made a point to watch CNN, MSNBC and other channels on a very neutral standpoint, and have found CNN to be very un-liberal and un-biased, they even have some conservative slants on there, which make up for one or two "liberal" ones. Im sure Tucker Carlson agrees with me!

now fox news, is a propaganda spewing pile of bullshit

There is nothing liberal about the NY Times. You should try to read it sometime before jumping off that bridge. In fact, this whole "leftist" terminology for even the big three is pure Rushism headbanging quite frankly. You want to pick on a specific show, go ahead, but the broad characterizations you made are not only stupid, they're wrong.

gonna keep this brief.

NBC owned by General Electric
CBS owned by Viacom
ABC owned by Disney
CNN owned by Time Warner

Those are publically traded, high-profile companies.

There is only one bias that stretches across all media outlets in the US. That is the bias to make money. If any of the news groups from those companies doesn't make money, the executives from those companies are faced with a decision to either change the practices there, or to accept the losses from that unit because the overall benefits to the company may be served. Regardless, it is a strategic business decision, not a simplistic decision based on a dual-party world view.

As for "balancing" NY Times, in addition to the tabloid papers printed in NYC, the Wall Street Journal is at or near the same level of respect.

The myth of the liberal media comes from a statistic that had like 63% (or so) journalists answering that they are more likely to answer questions on political issues consistent with what would be expected from a stereotyped "liberal".

What isn't quoted is that something like 70% of their editors (the people who have the final say as to what is printed, the people who set the agenda for a newspaper's opinion pages) tend to skew "conservative".

And the executives who are the bosses of the editors also tend to skew "conservative".

Regardless those statistics don't really mean that much. The question on whether you can be a good journalist, editor, or news executive is not what party you vote for when you go into the booth. The question is whether or not they can perform their professional responsibilities - which include being objective.

Fox News Channel has made a business decision (see first paragraph) as a unit of Newscorp to persue a conservative audience. THey provide programming that is obviously slanted politically to provide entertaining and compelling news to their viewers. Basically, going after the massive audience that tunes into conservative talk radio all day. Oh wait, is that the media too? FNC is actually a very well done television channel. I think if you are looking for a quality news source though, this is the last channel to turn to, but if you want to watch entertaining political commentary from interesting personalities that is consistent with your conservative viewpoints, and are willing to sacrifice accuracy, veracity, etc, then FNC is your place.

anyway, most of the "liberal media" thing is propaganda from the right that's sole purpose is to make their extreme positions look more mainstream.
