Wow gratz FDA...psychologists and psychiatrists have know this for a good 40 years...The "suicide paradox" is in pretty much every freshman psych text book from the '70's on...Actually the modern SSRI antidepressants are less prone to this than the old MAOI and tricyclics but its pretty much a given that if you get negative symptoms of depression resolving before the positive symptoms you have a suicidal person with enough energy and will to do something about it...

Yeah the pharmaceutical companies have always lobbied to keep the FDA out of their bidness. It's pretty sad how much of population are constantly stoned on these pills because doctors are encouraged (again by the same corporations) to prescribe them for just about anything. .

And for reference suicide has been listed on the precautionary statements of (for example) Zoloft all along...

Putting the caution on the label is pointless...Consumers in the US seldom to never recieve the mfg's packaging...:)
