Important thoughts for Friday

Post by Salis »

So I was drunk off my ass one day! And it occured to me that I'm not quite sure which is the finest movie ever, to watch when drunk. Obviously this is of critical importance, and is not an issue that we can let stand idle. So, a few of my personal favourites, of which I can't select a winner;

Withnail and I
Snatch
The Boondock Saints
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly!

Please add favourite movie, drink to go with it, and why! ^-^

Sweet mother of Jesus, how can you expect somebody to pick one favorite movie?

My favorites list changes with the seasons, pretty much, but here's what I'm really liking right now:

PSYCHO
REAR WINDOW

I love Hitchcock. These two movies are among his best, to me. Vertigo would be up there, too...but Rear Window has to top it. Jimmy Stewart > all. When watching a classic like this, you have to drink something classic. Knob Creek and Coke works. Laprohaig sounds good, too.

FUDOH - The Next Generation

Miike is one of the more...um...interesting filmmakers coming out of Japan these days. Audition is excellent, too...but Fudoh has uber-hot hermaphrodite yakuza assasins who shoot poison darts out of their vaginas with a deadly accuracy. You gotta love that. What to drink with this movie? Maybe a nice glass of Sapporo Draft.

AMELIE

Jean-Pierre Jeunet has outdone himself with this movie. It has all the whimsy of his others (Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, among others), but a lot more heart. Great film. Have a either a cold, meticulously prepared glass of Emile 68 Blanche or a good fizzy French lemonade.

MAGNOLIA

Though Punch Drunk Love was good, too, I still think this is Aderson's best work. Surreal and fantastic, with enough of an eye for detail that you keep finding more and more things to be excited about on repeated viewings. ...and hey, isn't that the chick from Til Tuesday singing that song? Hush, hush! Keep it down now....voices caaaaary.... To drink? Something with some whiskey.

SNATCH

Already mentioned above, this is Guy Ritchie's best. Have some Guinness and enjoy.

TOKYO DRIFTER

Sort of a Japanese James Bond. In a way. Drink some sake.

Classic Bollywood based on Agatha Christie. Some of the musical numbers are awesome, including a go-go bit in the beginning that's very reminiscent of Black Tight Killers, and was featured in Ghost World. Make up some curry, and sip on a mango lassi.

The Evil Dead series, because theyre always fun, but a little booze never hurt to make them more fun.

Blair Witch Project, because the ONLY way im gonna see that movie again is if im too drunk to protest or close my eyes.

Spinal Tap
Fear of a Black Hat
Army of Darkness

All great movies to watch, better to do so drunk.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Definetly Fist of Legends with Jet Li....you shouldnt drink anything because it will take away from your over all movie watching experience and you don't want to miss a second of this flick.

I didn't touch a drop of alcohol for 6 months after I watched this movie.

Another good intoxicated movie - Natural Born Killers
Pyrella - Illusionist - Leader of Ixtlan on Antonia Bayle

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?
