Battlefield: Vietnam, anyone else get it?

Post by Zamtuk »

Anyone running a dedicated server yet? If you are thinking about getting this, its fun. Just slap a Vietname skin on BF1942 and you have this game. Weapons and vehicles are the win too. Picking up ut2k4 here shortly, their multiplayer is much better.

Nope, I got UT2004 instead. Might set up a UT2004 server on VV - not sure though. I think it takes a lot of resources to run and slows down the web server.

I was dissapointed in it. Mostly because heli sucks so bad now, no skill at all required, compared to desert combat. I didn't really like the feeling overall ;(

On a totally different note, for you non-legal people out there, get Farcry as fast as you can. God damn that game is the win, at least in SP. The graphics are just mindblowing, the gameplay, sounds and overall FPS feeling as well. Will be up there with doom 3 and HL2 (well, hopefully they are better, but this game absolutley rocks). The engine is solid as hell. Never seen such nice water in a game before, ever. And i only have a gimp GF4600ti. With a DX9 card it must totally dominate.

Farcry IS the win. I played the beta and demo and noticed some problems with it (odd physics, AI that wasn't intelligent as it should have been, etc). Hopefully those were corrected for the final release. I'm not much of a FPS person but I liked this game for some resaon. Great graphics and immersive sound (with headphones on). Story was a little onthe weak side though.

The multi-player was pretty weak as well, mostly consiting of capture the flags type things. Some objective-based play would have been nice as well. Granted, that was just in beta and maybe the final offers more. Games, at least FPS games, really stand or fall by their multiplayer capabilities these days.

Getting UTwhatever and D3 beta so we'll see how things stack up.

I picked up both UT:2004 and BF: Vietnam. Play Vietnam for about 2.5 hours last night and I had a lot of fun with it. I don't normally fly vehicles so I can't comment there but I was really digging being a ground pounder.

I bought UT2k4 and d0wn104d3d far cry. UT is fun as hell. I approve of a VV server. 8)

Played Far Cry some last night. And the AI is still as dumb as bricks on long ranged attacks. Or maybe it's because I was playing on the easy setting. Blew up a truck from across the bay and all the mercenaries in the area ran behind the truck and just stood there hiding. So... I fired another rocket and wiped them all out at once.

And the animations when they are talking are a bit stiff.

Oh, and the underwater bubbles need to go. Too cartoony. And round.

Still fun though. There's some things that made me say "That's kinda cool." For example, I looked into their camp with binocluars and there was one guy target practicing. I moved over to his target and you could see where the bullets were hitting. And they weren't in the same spot each time. I always like little touches like that.
