Over the top!

Post by Mort »

I heard this morning on the way into work that some city in Tennessee was trying to outright ban all gays. Anyone heard anything about this yet? I cant find anything on teh net. Im not sure they can even legally do that, can they?

Way over the fucking top. Wish I could remember name of the city atleast, hadn't had any coffee yet.

Are you sure? I doubt that even a city in white america would do that. Maybe it was someone saying "our city such and such should ban all gays!"

I dunno, there are some cities where there are more cows than residents. Chances of all of such a small number being narrow-minded biggots aren't exactly small.

In those cities, threaten to crack down on beastiality and the gay threats will subside.

Last night in a commercial a local news station mentioned the same thing. I dont watch the news so I can't tell you anything more. It was the Fox station in Houston, so maybe they have something on their website.

I saw a report on CNN about it this morning. Apparently it is the same county that had a man arrested for talking about evolution. According to the report I watched the county legislature is requesting that the state legislature ammend some state law in such a way that it would allow them to make being gay illegal in their county.

I managed to find an article on CNN about it.

You want to see something even scarier. Take a look at the poll, in the woai link, on the right regarding whether the county has a right to ban homosexuality. It was 45.7% Yes to 54.3% No when I voted. I can see a small county in Tennessee trying to violate the constitution, but that poll is for people in San Antonio, a major city.

The demographics of San Antonio are mostly Catholic Mexican Americans. (to be PC) So it really isn't that surprising.

Having some family there, and having worked there briefly, the city isn't really as major as it seems. They're fucking lucky they have phones that town is so bassackward.

I guess the fact that it's the 9th largest city in the U.S. doesn't count for much. I guess it's the fact that 58% of the people are Hispanic, those people don't count eh? I also guess those 20 million people that visit each year are just really big fans of back-asswardness. I see ignorance isn't just found in Tennessee.

I will give you the catholic/Hispanic thing since in general most are very conservative. Still it surprises me that anyone would support an initiative like this.
