What does this mean?
I hear it said every now and then, and just acught myself writing it in a final paper for class - but what, exactly, does it mean?
Curious.

Lo and behold: To call attention to a surprising truth.
Lo is a word meaning "to call attention to" or "to express surprise". "Behold" is a word meaning "to gaze upon or observe".

Why is it always "A penny for your thoughts" but you put in "your two cents worth"... where does that extra penny go?

Well we just keep those fractions of pennies, its not really hurting anyone. Nobody will even know they are gone. And we do it a couple million times a day.
