Gah you act like it's a chick film. I HATE chick flicks.

And I think you underestimate Jim Carrey. The Truman Show is a great film that didnt require his over-the-top comedic edge.

I enjoy quite a few of his movies, none of which I would consider film. I know I am being difficult for distinquishing between film and movies, just had that discussion at work the other day 8)

Well if you have to classify them I would think of it in the same way you delineate literature from mainstream "fiction" (Of course I always found the section in the bookstore "Fiction and Literature" to be poor labeling as literature can be fiction as well, but I digress). To me film is something that offer the audience more than just entertainment, often it offers subtle analysis of the genre itself that most people don't pick up on. It's often artistically presented and always intelligently constructed. Sometimes it is didactic, sometimes irreverant.

Like pornography, I know it when I see it :)

Well soon none of them will be "films"

they'll all be "videos"

if it was shot on film, chances are its a "film".

It's like food. Be it caviar or Mc'Donalds, it all comes out pretty much the same way.

Charlie Kaufman is one of the best screenwriters around. I can't wait to see this.

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, the song in the trailer = Electric Light Orchestra(ELO) - Mr. Blue Sky. It's a cool song.

From IMDB
This is the story of a guy, Joel (Carrey), who discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine (Winslet), has undergone a psychiatrist's (Wilkinson) experimental procedure in which all of her memory of Joel is removed, after the couple has tried for years to get their relationship working fluidly. Frustrated by the idea of still being in love with a woman who doesn't remember their time together, Joel agrees to undergo the procedure as well, to erase his memories of Clementine. The film, which takes place mostly within Joel's mind, follows his memories of Clementine backwards in time as each recent memory is replaced, and the procedure then goes on to the previous one, which is likewise seen, and then erased. Once the process starts, however, Joel realizes he doesn't really want to forget Clementine, so he starts smuggling her away into parts of his memory where she doesn't belong which alters other things about his memories as well...
