it would be somewhat disturbing if we weren't trying as hard as we could all along to catch Bin Laden.

I mean the election shoudln't have an effect on it, because we should have been trying 110% since 9/11 to catch him. And that may very well be the case.

I know the administration certainly wants his head on a plate by then. I think that will pretty much guarantee reelection.

They had to hunt the real threat. In Iraq. Now it's time to get back to those secondary blokes in Afghanistan/Pakistan.

Well, call me paraniod, but given the state of affairs right now, I would not be suprised if Pakistan is playing the table to get what it wants out of Bush. They know he would do anything to nab Bin Laden in time for the election and I am sure they would like a ton of support in their cock fencing with India. Irony of the situation is that any pressure on India directly affects the big money pals Bush has who are benefiting from outsourcing. If they cannot locate the "vast stockpiles of Nuclear materials" that are supposedly in Iraq, they sure as fuck are not going to find one old man with a dialasis machine, assuming he hasn't already snuck out of the entire region. We have pissed off so much of the world at this point, its not inconcievable that other countries have aided him, as well. If he does magically turn up just before the election, you can bet Pakistan will be our newest best buddy in the middle east. Then in 20 years we will be back there deposing another CIA trained insurgent that we armed to the teeth with our tax money.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
