Good group karaoke songs
Ok, what we are looking for are suggestions for karaoke songs, but they must be suitable for a group of people. This means:
* It must be easy
* It must be somewhat familiar
In other words, I'm not interested in your personal favorite song and nothing remotely obscure.
For those going to Fan Faire, please post if someone suggests something you like. It would be really cool to get all the VV folks up there together for a song.
Edit:
Sirensa suggested a couple in the FF thread I thought were good:
It's Raining Men!
We're Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister)

Yeah, actually, that kinda summed up last year even tho we didn't have a stage, or mics, or music. Much love to Drolgin and Mezzdat for that moment. Too bad they won't be there this year.Dregor Thule wrote:Lean On Me

War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Dwight Eisenhower

I've always been partial to Jimmy Buffett's "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" for those special group activities. "Friends in Low Places" is another one if you're in a more redneck location.
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
A group of my friends goes to a Karaoke bar every Friday night and occasionally we join them. Although the songs in the list below aren’t necessarily my personal favorites, they are the songs that the entire bar always seems to like to join in and sing along.
You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling – The Righteous Brothers
Friends in Low Places – Garth Brooks
You Never Even Call Me by My Name – David Allen Coe
Family Tradition – Hank Williams, Jr.
Margaritaville – Jimmy Buffet

I am Woman Hear Me Roar
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore (zerg!)
And I know too much
To go back an' pretend (stolen l33t strats)
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor (bind rush)
No one's ever gonna
Keep me down again...(instanced zones)
With a few changes, this song would work!

Watching two (mostly) hetero men sing "Endless Love" is some quality entertainment.

Although I never could stand the tune, it was still a college bar favorite w/ the broads, that "End of Time" song from Meatloaf, I think it's called.
Neil Diamond songs are certainly near the top as is Jimmy Buffet and "You Shook me all night long" is certainly a top tune for that type of thing.
How about you just give everyone a shot of heroin and sing to any of the utter shit that's been released for all formats over the last 10 years.

This is the only country song I allowed at my wedding. In fact it was the only song I specificly asked for so my groomsmen and I could make fools of ourselves while having a damn good time.
Not that I don't like this song.. it's a good one for Karaoke. But since some of the song is "talking" it probably wouldn't come out well in a group version.
