Edwards Out

Post by Xouqoa »

Boo, I was kind of liking him. Hopefully Kerry will pick up Edwards or Clark as a VP.

* Edit

I screwed up and put up the wrong one.

Meant Bill Richardson, following link goes over the possibilities.

A female running mate won't win. If the key is to beat Bush, that just can't happen right now IMHO. I truly think Edwards was the right man and our best chance to take the White House. Just not sure on Kerry... I just don't think he can win... not even 100% sure he will get my vote. Me personally I think tonight Bush won the election, that's why he called Kerry to give him a congrats. The Republicans have already stated numerous times they wanted a race with Kerry and not Edwards or Clark... looks like they got their wish :(

Would it be too much to hope that the same Republican idiocy which brought us Saddam II: The Sandy Little Butthole Affair could manage to screw up Bush's campaign too?

Edwards would make a great VP. He's got a youngish good looking face and he's very articulate without coming off as a stiffly stifferson intellectual. He would walk all over Cheney in any kind of debate. I'm still not sure Bush jr. is goint to run with Cheney again though.

like Bush has the power to remove Cheney from the ticket :p

I heard that Edwards and Kerry didnt care for each other too much, which may hurt the chances of Edwards as a V.P.

There are several other contenders for the spot, but I voted for Edwards yesterday. I do like his positive attitude and personality.

I actually liked Quayle.

I don't think Bush has the power to kick Cheney off his ticket, but I don't think that is the issue. Bush has said apparently that he wants Cheney again, but if his masters want someone else to run for VP, they will get someone else to run. I read an article last night saying that only 1 in 4 republicans polled actually want Cheney to run again. If they feel that it will hurt his chances to get re-elected, they will put him on a rocket and shoot him into the sun.

I met Quayle when I was in high school. He has the most intense blue eyes. Better looking irl than on TV.

He was visting the Johnson Space Center and came into the grocery store where I was working for a little PR work. Freaky seeing those agents come in before him.

Clinton was the best President the US has had in many years... you know you did well in the 90s, don't bitch.

I will agree though that Hillary seems pretty sneaky. I haven't spent much time around her since the 92 Election but before that I often felt a little ill-at-ease whenever I was around her, even in normal conversations. Bill is a very likeable and VERY smart guy, enjoyed spending time talking with him even when I was a Republican and we disagreed on most topics.

The Republicans didn't want Edwards to get the nomination because, as I qoute a Republican Offical "he has more charisma in person and can control a room better than Bill Clinton..." That is what the Rep. didn't want... Kerry seems like the same old same old... not really different from Bush, that is why I don't think he can win. The few differences they really have are just going to push most conservatives and independents back to Bush. The independant vote is key for the Dems and Edwards controled that Vote. :(

i agree with your view on Edwards Marb.

I do think there are other options though like Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico. He's latino and has foreign policy experience.

Edwards' speeches i think are really good though, i think he really does energize people in a positive way, which is very unusual in politics today.

Doesn't anyone else find it disturbing that people like Marb think an impeached president who lied under oath and protested against his country is considered to be the best President in a long time?

yes because what clinton did is so much worse than defying international law and lying to the entire world in order to invade a sovereign nation illegally, for the express purpose of exploiting it's natural resources and enriching special interest corporations at the expense of taxpayers.

Actually, many (most?) terrorism experts, including conservatives (most of reagan's ex-staff) think that Clinton was a phenomenal president in terms of combatting terrorism.

Not that I particularly liked him, but that line of attack is weak.

The "Sudanese government offered Bin Laden to Clinton, but he turned them down" line is a report, denied by the Sudanese government and entirely unsubstantiated outside of one person who has no particular credibility and curiously landed a very cozy job in some conservative sphere or another after his "revelation."

If you supported the Vietnam War you were an idiot. What was the fucking point of throwing away the lives of over 50,000 american lives (and in typical american fashion I won't consider the number of Vietnamese killed)? What was achieved by their deaths? 50,000+ lives totally wasted. They were not fighting for your country, they were fighting for and died for politics with an end result of null.

It is idiots that follow blindly that let this shit happen both then and now.

The UN? The same UN that said that Iraq probably doesn't have any weapons of mass destruction and aren't in any marked violation of any UN resolutions? You mean when Hans Blix said that Iraq didn't have any WMD's and he was right? You mean when the security council vetoed a US relolution for a re-invasion because Saddam Hussein was complying with weapons inspectors and they didn't find anything? That kind of intelligence failure? The only intelligence failure that I can see is your level of retardation. You are such a collosal fucking intelligence failure I would not be surprised if Rumsfeld drags you out at the next press conference as an example.

Maybe you should get off your partisan Bush hating ass and be happy for what we have accomplished over there.
Right now Iraqis are substantially worse off now than they were under Saddam. Their infrastructure is virtually non-existant, islamic fundies are running the local businesses into ruin, there isn't a significant police force even in Baghdad. There is no border security. The sunnis and the shi'ites are the on the brink of a full blown civil war. There have been multiple attempts on Bremer's life and the current iraqi "governing council" (rofl) can't even decide if they want curly fries or regular fries with their halal burgers. Bombs and traps go off daily killing dozens of people. The only thing you've accomplished over there is gotten a bunch of soldiers killed and helicopters shot down and a whole fuckload more arabs that hate your country's guts. Oh and Halliburton is a lot richer from all those lucrative no-competition private bid contracts they got on the taxpayer's dime. Not to mention the 10's and possibly 100's of millions of dollars they have outright stolen in inflated gas and oil prices. Yeah I am sure the average Iraqi is really grateful for the freedom you brought them.

Yeah, I know; "uh huh." I am so owned every time you pipe that like a fucking retard and then high five yourself for being so goddam clever. Seriously dude, eat a fucking cock because you are a moron.

I am never going to even honor your stupidity any longer.
So, you've been honoring Kyoukan all this time? Wow, and I thought I had the wierd obsession with her.

So we should sit and watch other countries be invaded and do nothing?

World War I we should have done nothing?
World War II we should have done nothing?

Is it your belief that as long as the rest of the world doesn't set foot on your soil they are free to do what they will?

Do you not believe that giving relief to suffering people alone is not lives? There also has to be some immediate threat against yourself to prompt action?

And people say we're a great society, feh. Great Society of the self maybe.

Who did Iraq invade, say, in the five or so years leading up to this war that necessitated our launching it?
