Gates of Disgrace

Post by Waran »

Ok, does SOE employ actual beta testers and QA that aren't their player base? If so, do they feel that they have job security? Did they seriously test this POS expansion?

The Casino fails once again and removed (Granted, not GoD's fault but contributed), leaving Veeshan a mess, 1017s everywhere, leadership exp that won't roll over, Favor/Tribute system taken offline...etc etc etc

I don't remember this many promised features in an expansion not working properly and axed this soon after release.

Oh well, I'm sure the Casino will be back again to give us 1017s again :p

was talking to a beta tester in IRC yesterday, and they were begging the devs not to have the casino go live at the same time as the expansion. he thought it had something to do with an "executive" decision.

Its certainly up there. :(

Tell/chat/zone lag was horrendous for the time the Casino was online in Shadowhaven. TONS of people were in the General chat saying they had 1017s, while the GM in the room suggested it was "connectivity issues" and we needed to call tech support. I almost asked if the entire Veeshan server here in chat should call, cause we were all getting 1017s.

I heard last night that Berserkers were having a problem as well, but I really couldn't tell with mine when I stopped last night at level 8.

As far as the Casino being a money sink, there was one guy who did win a gold ticket and received a Guise of the Deceiver after spending 115K plat.

Anyone else run into anything?

Put a No Drop gnome mask in the casino and I'll spend millions to get it.

Short of that, that casino can rot in hell. Totally fubared our Time run with it's shitty lag.

From what I have seen, this expansion is horrible.

The spell drops and such, what a load of shit. No drop bullshit.

When tells lag just use ;tell and it goes right through. wuwu exproit1

This expansion was made for no one other then the ubers. I feel horrible for the lower levels who spent money on this shit.

;tell was lagging for me last night. Not sure how it was compared to /tell, but it was still a good 10-15 seconds before tells got through.

Hopefully with the casino taken down again we can get back to actually playing instead of crashing every 10 minutes.

8k got me a guise, yay luck for stupid shit. Would've much preferred beads or even fungi stick / mana stone (beads >>>> them though), but I figured I had used all my luck.

The casino is a good idea, but they need to put more thought into it than "Lets put it up today? Oh damn, crashed the servers again. Oh I know, lets put it up same day as expansion! Yes! Oh wai... /bye servers"

Hell I figured since that since this is an "Everquest" forum, and the majority of players playing "Everquest" have recently experienced the same problems with GoD and the like, I would think that a little frustration venting is a good thing.

If you have any suggestions for Everquest threads, or wish to post one, by all means start a thread that you'd like to see.

From what I hear, elemental is closer to what's required to get anywhere in GoD.

The LDoN armor is crap except for anyone who doesn't have a guild that can do Ssra/VT these days. i.e. <65. I've never seen so many worthless stats crowding armor. The saving grace of that stuff is that the poorest pieces have 3 augment slots.. so you can at least have 1 good effect or augmentation in them.

Any person with a VT or better guild, however, would be exceedingly disappointed with the LDoN armor except as possibly a filler for 1-2 hard to find upgrade slots.

Now if only SOE could stabilize the servers so we don't crash and 1017 every time we zone. A day or 2 is mildly annoying. A week is getting fucking old...

Bought the expansion and all I got was this stupid 1017 error!

Only been to GoD ot rez some guildies. Not been invited to expeditions, have no clue what to expect.

STill trying to get some fucking stats on my Charm/Adventure stone. I have no flags and have 8-9 wins in specific Adventure zones. Need to start hitting 10 and get the minimal stat bonus.

I'm slowly relearning this game after taking 2.5 years off ... its a mind fuck.

I like GoD so far.
It's a good challenge.. unskilled and badly geared players aren't gonna like it much.

GoD is pretty hard overall. I love it. I haven't been challenged in a long time in this game. If you can do hard adventures on a regular basis, you're ready for GoD. If you cannot, stay in PoP and LDoN for awhile.

This is a progressive expansion. You will require gear + AAs from prior expansions to do well IMO.

i love this expansion so far.

mobs that run faster then sow AND snare-dark.
nasty trials required for progression. ( no
Invis potions now a permanent requirement for your inventory.
Travelling from one place to another can turn into a CR.

i think it is a pretty cool expansion.

i think the trials are potentially tuned towards a particular style a bit too much. I would think a non-time equipped knight would have a hard time tanking a lot of the progression stuff. some groups try to use 2 clerics on a defensive warrior to kill progression bosses. i am not going on direct experience with all of them, just kind of stuff i've heard.

part of the problem is just inherent to EQ and that is the biggest flaw with the game really, but i think some of the encounters could have been done with a bit more creativity that didnt favor massive healing on a defensive warrior.

i do like the fact that it is challenging to get places, we have all been lulled into laziness with how gimped down the game got with PoP (graveyards, free travel everywhere). i was on a CR last night and forgot to reinvis after hailing the magus to get to Natimbi. so my laziness got me smoked :p

granted i am not really missing the days of going to neriak for your large coffin run to recover from a wipe in Disco or whatever :p but you know the zones are small, and its fast to get back, so it's all good =)

I don't see the fun or challenge in CRing randomly dropped invis deaths caused by dropped invis while running past 50 mobs packed tighter than sardines that no one ever kills on your way to expedition start points.

Other than the invis issue, it's been a pretty fun expansion so far.

So you know, a large portion of the GoD code did not transfer from beta to live. It was functioning pretty well by the end of beta. Can only speculate as to why they neglected to move all the code--but it was probably as a cockblock ala rathe again.
