the fastest ive evr gone was about 135 mph, but it was on a motorcycle. i strongly advise never to do this in a car or bike. wrecking at 25mph fucked me up good... can't imagine what wrecking at 100+ would do to a person.

I saw the remains of a car full of high school kids that hit the base of one of those highway overpass signs. They were going like 120, and the car basically shattered, scattering debris around the pole, which was completely unaffected. It was ugly.

People DID used to fear the Flamevault. I used to get /tells in-game from people I'd never heard of saying exactly that. They loved reading, but wouldn't DREAM of posting. Shit, when I started posting back on the old IGN Vault, I got lambasted mercilessly for a solid 2 weeks. Now people freak out from a light one post Jackassing.

Aranuil is 100% correct. This place used to be a much meaner, but also more honest board. I think our easy access to the admins/mods has made us fucking soft. We used to NEVER hear from TehMachine, unless it was to ban some anon fucktard or give a warning about excessive pharming.

It's cute how you assume something is false simply because you weren't around to observe it. As others have stated, I used to get /tells in game asking me how I could possibly post on Flamevault. Because it was such a rough environment. I was told on many more than one occasion that someone was afraid to post there.

For the record, I'm not going to take advice on self-esteem from someone that needs to light up to feel good about themselves. Self-esteem is not something I'm lacking.

People used to fear their online and RL egos being found out. It used to be that your Handle/Screen Name/Alias and your RL were intertwined. Back when I was BBSing, I was the only person with my handle on the entire TerraNET or GlobalNET usenets. Nowadays, people understand and hide behind the anonymity of the internet. I could logout of the board, make a new account and come in here guns-a-blazing and never fear that anyone could tie it back to me. With the influx of immature players that seem to think that getting people excited over some bullshit is a way to get your rocks off, we're bound to have more random idiots posting here (a la Sweetkastings and Devereaux).

I've recently had to come to terms with my out of game antics catching up to me and costing me oppertunities in game. These powertwink newbies don't understand any of what it takes to be a part of a content rich community like EQ. Respect means nothing on the internet anymore. It's all about being able to flame someone and have 30 people follow up with the "Owned!" pics.

The only way to "harden" this place back up again is for moderators and guilds to crack down on their members. Make people responsible for the things they say and do.

Actually, that rule is an old PD rule. It was in already back when I first joined like 2 years ago, before PD was allied with farstorm with 100+ people on some raids.

I think ive made a total of less then 50 post since ive visted vn and here for 4 years. Just never posted on things, always liked to read. Never felt affraid to post anything since a lot of people I recognized in game and were nice folks.

But also when your leading a non uber guild, you dont have to worry about much in game friction.

Well I hope the closer WoW gets to release, someone starts a possible server thread. Would be great to see a few familiar names in the next game.
