Lost in Translation
Anyone seen this? Saw it during the Return of the King trailers, looks pretty decent but want some more info its its worth moving my lazy body out of the house for.
It could be that the only purpose for your every existence, is to serve as a warning to others.
I thought that this was a great film. Bill Murray produces a fantastic, very believable performance as the aging actor in this film. Scarlett Johansson is a very talented young actress, who works well oposite Murray in this.
I really enjoyed this film, and so did all of the other five people that I was with at the time.

Lost in Translation was one of the best movies (if not the best movie) of 2003. Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson both gave excellent performances. The two of them made the movie- it was one of those movies where not a whole hell of a lot happens, and it could have been boring if not for the acting. It's hard to explain why I liked it so much, since it had a fairly simple story. You wind up really relating to the characters and feeling for them.
If you don't yet know how amazing an actor Bill Murray is, you should see this movie (and see Rushmore too, while you're at it!).

I still think The Razor's Edge may be his best role ever...Then again I am Larry Darrell according to my friends who've read the novel so I may be biased...

Razor's Edge was a very good movie. Bill Murray had to make a deal to make a few comedies in order to play this role.Arborealus wrote: And Where the Buffalo Roam and The Razor's Edge...

Screw Sean Penn. Murray deserves an Academy Award for his role as the groundskeeper in Caddyshack alone. (remember how crappy Dan Akroyd's version was in the 2nd Caddyshack?)

Saw this last night, amazing film, I loved how it made me feel so good at the end, and was completely different from the typical comedy love story mold that is around these days. I hate the style of boy meets girl, boy or girl does something dumb, they break up, boy or girl saves relationship at last second, live happily ever after.

Saw this yesterday - great movie. At times I struggled to find the point to a few scenes - but I soon forgot all about that with the beautiful scenery and camera shots that Coppola came up with. Great performances by all those involved - even that Scary Movie chick

After seeing this movie last night (and The Virgin Suicides a couple weeks ago), Sofia Coppola just became one of my favorite directors.
And the acting... wow! Bill Murray made me FEEL the sadness of a middle aged man. I hope he gets the Oscar!

Just got done watching it (I'll be damned if I picked up the fullscreen version too
). This goes down as one of my favorite movies. Like was stated before it was never over the top and chemistry between Scarlett and Bill blew me away. Many of the situations reminded me of my trip to Brazil. I laughed my ass off in the beginning when the director for the whiskey commercial would go off on these minute long tangents and the translator would just say "look at the camera intensely". I experienced that a lot, where people would talk for a good 20-30 seconds and my friend would just tell me something along the lines of, "He says, 'Hi'."

Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
