Oh man, this is horrible

Post by Adex_Xeda »

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,110622,00.html

One day you have a daughter, 48 hours later you find that she's been abducted, possibly raped and killed within a mile of you. Life is just going as normal when all of a sudden someone precious is violently ripped away from you and why your still stuck in the shock of her disappearance you find out she's been murdered.

That's just horrible.

And you know at times like this even the death penalty applied to the murderer seems a hollow gesture.

a positive thing about the death penalty in this case Adex is that it removes the chance that this criminal can reproduce and pass on any genetic component that may contribute to this horrible behavior.

Life in a federal pounding in the ass prison is infinitely better than the death penalty.

Life in prison is most definitely the way to go on this one. There'll be scars in more places than just the guy's lip.

for this guy to be raped on a daily basis for the rest of his life and to fear for his life, you can setup a direct withdrawal from my bank account right now, I'll foot the bill.

Death is the easiest way out. Locking them away to sit on their asses is also too easy. I'd like to see prisoners convicted of serious crimes put into an extremely hard labor program that runs 7 days\week, 365 days a year.

I should take the Voronwe approch to posting early in the morning. Back on the OG boards I think he use to just delete his first post most morning before he had his coffee, heh I should have done that.

Being a father this type of thing truly infruates me. The solution though, while my beliefs on the death penality waver, would be life with hard labor as Forthe said. Why prisoners can build roads and plow fields mannually anymore I don't know... I think a lot could be done to make prisons more self sufficent. NOT inhumane but pretty bad, I mean it's prison, it somewhere you are suppose to NOT want to go right?

What did this girl do to deserve this? What does any child do?

Having been born in Sarasota (where this happened) and living an hour away, this feels like it hit close to home.. with my sister having two children and a third on the way, this feels like it hit close to home..

I keep losing any remaining hope I've had left in humanity.

If I was the father, I don't think there would be a trial or any chance of appeal. When you have a repeat offender caught on videotape doing this, they should be immediately exectued after being raped in the ass with smoldering firebrands.

My wife's cousin was 11 years old when she was raped and murdered here in Fairfield, OH. The murdering fuck that did it stuffed her into a cabinet in his garage and then went out to help look for the missing girl with the neighbors and relatives. He is eligible for parole this year. Why exactly does our justice system suck?

i mean i'm sure i'd lose my mind if it was my daughter with fury.

but if you have other kids, you do not have the luxury to endulge your passions and do jail time and no longer provide income for your family.

I think potentially the person with the blow can fuck up people's lives as much as the murderer. Only its a lot easier to visibly see how much the murderer screws with people's lives.

If blow was decriminilized and regulated, and some of the billions we spend yearly funneled into educational programs (not Reefer Madness-type bullshit), it woudn't be a problem at all.

They really need to start a torture penalty for shit like this. Put him in solitary and hire proffesionals to torture the motherfucker ever day of the rest of his life. The only time he gets to come out of his darkness will be for pain and soon he will wish he could just stay in the darkness for ever.

There's no need for torture of any sort, that violates all the principles that the country was founded on.

I don't see anything wrong with a forced labor program, however. Provided that the program was run in accordance with strict standards of humanity, ensuring adequate health & safety standards, along with reasonable work hours (maybe 6 days a week) and reasonable working conditions.

And yes, nonviolent offenders (and especially perpetrators of victimless crimes) really need to get out of jail.

I'm sure that you're aware of how easy it is to be wrongfully convicted of a felony in this country.

I'd also like to point out that there are plenty of felony crimes that are not nearly worthy of an entire forfeiture of personal rights.

Further, that amendment is specifically referring to the justice system, and thus felons, and granting them rights. As worded, it explicitly opposes your point. Adding that sentence would make it contradictory and illogical.

Are you stoned, Sueven?
That is indeed an astute question.

I'd also like to respond to a response in advance: Some may suggest that we create a second standard of proof, and require adherence to this standard in order to remove personal rights. However, the standard of proof for conviction in a criminal case is "beyond a reasonable doubt," which is, as far as I'm concerned, about as strong a standard of proof as can objectively be assigned. Setting a stronger standard would be both illogical and arbitrary.

Brotha, feel free to point out your qualms about my thinking.

EDIT: For an example of just how stupid felony law can be:
Legislative critics in Florida of violent computer games have been thwarted before in attempts to make selling them to minors a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison or a $5,000 fine.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=s ... games_dc_2

Now obviously this isn't currently a felony crime, but the fact that something so stupid is even in the felony ballpark is an indication of how completely impractical this is. I don't mean to harp for such a long time on such a small comment, but I've actually heard the same point endorsed by a number of people, and I really can't believe it.

What we need is Pre-Crime, then this shit would never happen.

On a more serious note, I hope they throw this guy to the wolves in a Federal Prison and they make sure every inmate knows exactly what he did. Free execution that way, which won't cost the state 3.2m or whatever, and he won't be around very long so it really won't cost it much to put him in prison either!

From what I've heard that would probably be unneccesary. Apparently the prison guards or warden go down the line of prisoners and basically introduce new prisoners and what they're in for. If they're being jailed for rape, child molestation pedophilia etc they make sure to announce it loud and clear. I'm not completely sure what they do about seperation of these types of felons from the general populace but I'm sure a little butt-rompin could be arranged quite easily. You can almost guaruntee if he gets put away he won't last a month.

Just cut off his hands and penis (certainly won't be killing any more people, or raping them for that matter). And put him in pound-me-in-the-ass prison. I'd be willing to have my taxes pay for that.

I think an eternity of torture would not be enough for someone like this. Raping and murdering a child, taking away the light from his or her parent's life, is an act that is simply unforgivable. Any kind of sexual offense should be treated with utmost severity; if compounded with murder, even more so. Even a "simple" sexual assault can easily compromise the mental state of any woman or man exposed to it, in various stressful and/or permanent ways.

Now, what punition would be enough? Killing him in a human way? I don't think so. Just try and put yourself in the place of the girl... Try to feel what she may have felt - alone, scared, probably aware of what was going to happen to her. Minutes must have felt like hours to her, while she was being defiled by a maniac. And then, after he was done, and she probably was sobbing in a fetal position, he killed her.

And I should just kill him by "lethal injection"? I think not. No fancy quotes from Pulp Fiction here - I feel there is a need for an eye for eye justice in this kind of case. Rape him in the ass with a large, painfully spiked dildo, then castrate him in a most painful way and then throw him to the pigs, while making sure he doesn't bleed to death, but that he is too weak to defend himself from them.

This man, if guilty and I guess I'd have it say it looks like he is, should be put away forever and never see the outside again. He should be permanently separated from society.

I have no qualms about that.

However - how we choose to treat our offenders - says a lot about us as a society. I'm not saying set them up in a country club. I'm not saying prison should be cushy or fun.

But this guy is clearly sick. Does that absolve him of responsibility? No - but the pervasive violence and our continuing acceptance of it is a worrying thing to me. ie....we start torturing child molesters...or we place people in solitary confinement for years - where do we stop? The problem is we don't. A society that finds these behaviors acceptable for "prisioners" I believe would find too many other things acceptable as well.

Also realize - that hard core serial murderers get thrown in with three time petty theft losers. I hope we can agree that not all crimes are the same. Sure people shouldn't steal - but a three time shoplifter should perhaps not be placed in the same situation. It is not easy to make those fine distinctions within the confines of a prison - you expect guards and fellow prisioners to make these distinctions?

This guy shouldn't be released - he's a danger. But the treatment most receive in prison simply leads imo to a high degree of relapse. There are fewer abilities to gain education, learn a trade and/or get needed drug and mental health treatment than there used to be. These programs are cost effective as they allow people to have an actual shot at building a life when they get out instead of coming back through the revolving door.

I'll reiterate - no prison shouldn't be fun. But when we allow inhumane conditions it demeans us all imo.
