The owner of Yantis Enterprises was the leader of the last guild I was in...The one where i talked about the dude having ebayed accounts and shit. He's actually a nice likable person....

I've been saying for a few years that if your game doesn't have items being sold on Ebay, it's not popular. As much as SOE says they're against it, I think they've realized that, and I don't think they're truly trying to stop it.

obviously the guy is full of shit. there's no way that the plat selling is worth that much. these aren't even legitimate businesses. what exactly are they selling when they sell to another plat seller? a promise to never sell plat on player auctions ever again?

on the other hand, watching tight assed eq players over react about how this is ruining everquest is mildly entertaining.

They merged, there is not a promise not to sell. Yantis Inc merged with IGN. One big business now. The money he got was if nothing else, to stop the competition between the two (see posts about buying class boards).

Monopolies are great.
