Sure! If he was young!

Good Ol' Bruce was the father of MMA(Mixed Martial Arts), combining Boxing, Wrestling, Wing Tsun, TKD and many different arts.

His main philosophy was to adapt and dont have any set style, use what is useful! Early he broke out of the traditional thinking of martial arts, using whatever was available.

Eyejabs, knees, elbows, grappling etc

He was ahead of his time and if he was 25-30 now, im sure he would do well in his weightclass in for example Shooto in Japan.

Remember though, Martial Arts have evolved a lot during the years from 70's to now.

Back in Bruce's day, his philosophy about mixing martial arts was revolutionizing, now it is mainstream! :)

Training is very different now, to be successful in MMA contests, striking is not so important now as it was in the 70's.

Much more cardio and strength-training as well.

rofl yeah, Tony definitely did surprise the hell out of me coming down the elevator deal. Then when they said he wasnt taking off his jammies, we got a good laugh out of that.

This K-1 was actually surprisingly boring. Watching any Pride or K-1 almost makes you think that no one is there since the god damn japan folks are so quiet.

That grandpa they put up against Masato? wtf was that all about?

It just gets frustrating as hell watching K-1 being the insane MMA that I am. Half those guys wouldnt make it past the first round if they could be attacked when they fall down.

you have to wonder though what the hell would happen to bruce if say a royce gracie took him down on the ground and he had to grapple?
then again i take it ground fighting wasnt as big in the 70's, but i dont know too much about MMA history

I live about 20 minutes from Team Quest headquarters here in Portland. They have a killer amature fight night here every month. http://www.thefcff.com. I started going to that shit and before I knew it, I became completely obsessed with the sport.

I can't wait until UFC 46 next weekend to watch Randy tee off on Vitor. Pride is the best one of them all, but UFC is well on its way to being successful. Portland in general is really starting to follow MMA because of all the attention that Randy and Team Quest are getting. Randy will be on Jimmy Kimmell on the 26th btw!

Hopefully we will see a Silva vs Couture bout here soon if Randy keeps mopping up these guys and if Zuffa isnt gay about it.
