Men are actually going to become less and less necessary for reproduction as science progresses. Some scientists have already found a way to fertilize a human egg without the use of sperm cells. Granted, the child will simply share the mother's exact genetic makeup. But the fact that it's even possible is somewhat frightening.
the child doesnt have to be a clone of his/her mom. it can be a clone of anybody, like her girlfriend for instance.
any type of reproduction that strays too far from our species' natural pair-bonding strategy will most likely fail in the long run. Fail in that the offspring are less competitive than children from a 'natural' mating. Of course it is possible that technological "enhancements" to our reproductive process may improve it so substantially that we get speciation, the upper class who can afford reproductive technology will diverge rapidly from the Homo sapiens underclass.

The real problem with such methods is the lack of variation in offspring.
Ask corn farmers what happens when a blight hits their crop. Since 90% or better of corn in production today can be traced to just a handful of genetic ancestors, they get wiped.
So yeah, let's breed a new generation of superhumans. That way when the new bug comes down the pipe, we can all torch together.

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?
