The best football of the week was not in NCAA it was in the NFL. A major holy shit goes out to Green Bay for pulling that win out, and to Tennessee for that great field goal. If Peyton continues to play like that, then there could be a trophy heading to Indy. Since the Browns suck royal ass, and I go to school in NC, I have to root for the Panthers, who assraped the Cowboys this weekend.

Matt Hasselbeck should keep his mouth shut next time and try not to showboat before the OT kickoff. Him saying "We want the ball, we're gonna score." and then throwing an interception for a TD has got to be one of the best examples of karma in professional sports. =)
Gooooooooo Packers!
What a game though, that was one of the best NFL games I think I've ever watched.

There were some great football games played, but I can't say that I was actually surprised by any of them.
Tennessee versus Baltimore? Come on. You're telling me that you would pick Anthony Wright to win a playoff game? That the Ravens can out-tough a team led by Eddie George and Steve McNair? No way. The Ravens needed Shannon Sharpe to be an elite team. He did for their offense what Lewis does for their defense. The play where George and Lewis nailed each other and started jawing summed it all up. Ray Lewis ran into someone as tough as him, and he got put on his back.
Indianapolis versus Denver I can see people being surprised by.
Carolina versus Dallas? Has anyone watched Dallas play recently? They scored fewer than 150 points in their last 10 games. Quincy Carter finished off the season throwing 9 TD's and 17 picks. Troy Hambrick might as well be a loaf of wonderbread. People were so quick to deep-throat the collective Dallas penis that no one bothered thinking about the fact that this team really sucks ass.
Green Bay versus Seattle? Brett Favre and Ahman Green versus Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander? The PACKERS AT HOME versus the SEAHAWKS ON THE ROAD? Al Harris' pick return was just something that I assumed had to happen eventually.

Actually the ravens lost the game because Jamal Lewis was held in check. Eddie George and "out-toughing" didnt have much to do with it. Steve McNair really didnt have a good game vs that defense...it just came down to the ravens not being able to run the ball.Sueven wrote:Tennessee versus Baltimore? Come on. Eh.. considering Tennessee had lost what, 5 straight against Ravens I was a bit surprised. Especially with McNair banged up and George dislocating his shoulder. George isn't that great though imho.
Seahawks played great, kudos to them for giving it all they had and then some. That one throw Hasselbeck did coming up from his knees was Favre-like and then some. Impressive.
Panthers was like I expected it to be though. And damn, I think somebody pissed Manning off because he was on fire! Can we now PLEASE don't hear the crap about him not winning big games anymore? He has proven he can over and over this season.

Excellent weekend indeed.
Whether people believe it or not, a lot of folks had Baltimore going to the championship game.
A lot of people also have Green Bay going to the Championship as well. I was very surprised they almost lost it. Quite frankly, they should have. Seattle had the poise to stick with it. Otwards the end of the 2nd quarter, GB could have really run away. As far as Hassle goes, he's young, it's good to see fire out of a young qb for once. However, Philly would have rather played Seattle I'm sure. Should be an excellent game coming up
Peyton, my goodness. KC may fall this week, in fact, I am predicting it.
Tennessee, well, they were probably my pre-season pick from the AFC however, they are brutalized now though. Good to see the win, but I don't expect it to go any farther.
The NFL kicks ass these days. And this coming from a Giants fan
