Your old games you used to play?

Post by Dups. »

I always love this conversation with other people.

What games did you play way back in the day?

I used to play a lot of Commodore 64 games. Such as Jumpman, Maniac Mansion, Space Taxi, Aztec, Jungle Man, Mission Impossible, those damn summer/winter olympics, Sammy Lightfoot, Manic Miner, Montazuma's Revenge. etc

Those were fun! I remember thinking I was the best at each one of those games lol.

Then their were the Atari games such as Yars Revenge, Vanguard, Bezerker (Intruder Alert!!!) , Surround, Burgertime etc.

So, which games bring you way back into time and give you that magical feeling down there between your legs? :p

Don't forget, you can still play all those old games today! There are C64 and Atari emulators out.

I dont know if I could actually have fun playing them again, for any great length of time anyway. Most of the interest is nostalgia. Memories & such, like this one:

The year is, shit...1988? I go over to my friends house after school (junior year of HS) to hang out, and play a few games on his NES. I find him in front of the the TV, wrapped in in a game of Metroid. From the get go I can tell it's serious...he doesn't even acknoledge my presence, for he is entranced in the depths of Zebes. Upon closer inspection, I can see he is farther in the game than any of us ever have been before...and I am all like "holy fuck! Where are you!? " he dismisses me, not wanting to be distracted. Then, there it is...the mother brain! He starts firing furiously at it, and seems to be doing well for a while....until he moves him foot a little too much, and his big toe hits the power button. The screen goes to static. I look at him. He looks at me, expressionless. Suddenly, he gets up, and runs out the open sliding glass door to the backyard, across the deck, and leaps into the pool, fully clothed.

Damn, that's a great memory.

Haha, I used to play karate champ all of the time. If you were player one, the left stick was up and the right was right for a flying kick if I remember correctly. Nothing beat the sound of a solid flying kick followed by a "full point" announcement. And that stupid bull, jeez, gi bits everywhere. I never really got the timing on that one down although I was a pro at board breaking

Skogen. That is an AWESOME!!! Story :)

I used to get far in video games and my brother would walk by the Nintendo that was on the floor and I would always shout " DON'T WALK NEAR THE NINTENDO!! or DO NOT WALK SO HARD!!"

Sure enough if he got jealous enough he would walk hard near it.... enter the jumpy coloured screen!

On the C64 an army buddie and me would play Stealth Fighter, He would be on the joystick flying the plane and I'd be on the keyboard as the RIO, it brought a lot of fun to a tired game. Also on the 64 there was a game called Boulder Dash , it was a lot like Dig Dug but much more fun imo.

Atari: Combat, and I think Superman, can't remember if it was Atari or Intellivision

C64 or Amiga, can't remember which: Bard's Tale, with no intruction manual cause it was a copy!

Intellivision: Q-Bert, Zaxxon, and Tempest.

There was also the first dungeons and Dragons type game I remember playing, I think on Atari, where you had to collect different color keys to unlock different color dragons to fight.

Sure brings back them memories Krim! :)

Come to think of it, i thought Adventure was the most advanced game on the Atari-system, with the most interesting gameplay!

Well, comparing with the rest i had, PacMan, Soccer etc hehe

I still have my intellivision in my kid's closet that I'm tempted to bring down one night and give a few hours play before putting it back .. the problem is doing it when they are not awake since the kids will fight over it and possibly do harm to this collector's item 8)

Agreed. I wonder if he could dig up the box cover to Haunted Mansion, that was another Atari favorite of mine.

I also liked that each atari game would put in different versions of a game adjusted by the skill level button yet call them individual games on the boxes. Didn't Space Invaders have 112 games? Pretty funny stuff, one level would have moving shields another would have your shots zig-zag, another would keep you invisible unless you fired. Ahh

Well, found a Haunted House not a Haunted Mansion. Most of the box art is available.

Can't seem to link it directly though.

Anyway, go to the main http://www.mobygames.com/ page. They got all sorts of stuff.
