Sweet Jeebus. 50 suckers already? Not sure if this is a matter of people desperate for high level characters or people with too much money on their hands.

With my current level 65 character I'd of payed the measly sum of $709.95. Wow. Why wasn't this around when I started my enchanter? I wouldn't have had to deal with that group thing or xp thing or getting loot thing or spell collecting or aa or any of that crazy stuff that "normal" people do to level their characters.
Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:

were I to go back to EQ I would much rather pay some food-stained, unemployed shitbird a thousand bucks than have to go through the tedium of levelling another fucking character in this stupid fucking game. money is relative on a scale of how much of it you have. my time is worth more than that; mostly because I know a lot of high level people but don't know anyone that would want to level with me.

of course the problem is this cock would probably just take your thousand bucks and your CD keys and you'd never hear from him again. also, EQ is gay.

edit: what the fuck am i doing in this forum

From watching some folks PLing on veeshan lately, I wonder if they're working for him.

It's a pretty obviously 3-4 boxed enchanter\cleric\mage with a bard added in at higher levels. I've seen them in 4-5 zones at various game stages with multiple characters.

Exactly. The few itches to come back that I have gotten, have been quickly scratched by memories of Lake of Ill Omen and other just as annoying zones and groups of idiots.

While you can find the occassional great pickup group, most are filled with people leaving every 20 minutes followed by 20 minutes downtime looking to find a replacement. It's probably easier to find groups nowadays though since nobody really stops XPing with the advent of AAs.

Just remember to turn off /ooc.

I reactivated my account briefly and I will say that it isn't any easier to find a group and would say it is actually tougher if you have been gone a long time. I was able to get one adventure in that was fun but spending an hour looking for a group wasn't so I canceled my account again. Just not worth it.

My question is, what does this do to the high end game? Great you have a group of people all level 65 but do they even know how to play thier character? or know how to get to certain zones? or know what items are what? Sounds all too commercial now.

I've heard a lot of rumors about how this yantis guy does this.
One that really stood out was a lot of GM corruption.

GM makes a character on the Test Server, buffs it with lvls, AA, and other stuff, then the GM transfers the character to a normal server. They do it on test because they suppposedly don't log what the GMs do.

But i can in no way verify this. Just a rumor i geuss.

Bummer, seems the service is no longer offered after that note from Alen came out. Hope Yantis lost his ass in the account banning sweep.

Pffffft. I laughed the first time I heard about buying a character for an online game. The first time I heard about it was with Diablo II. Then, when I heard about buying EQ accts, I nearly died. Why buy a character that's at a level where you're supposed to know how to play? You're gonna look like a complete asshat while logged into a 65 cleric and not know which heal to use, or using a 65 druid and not know how to quad kite. The whole idea is just.... well, stupid. I hope those people who paid all that money got their accts banned. Maybe they'll learn to start a character from scratch next time.

You don't think they log things that GM's do on test and they don't log our character moves? C'mon. Give me a break.

Went surfing over at player auctions, you can buy 1,000,000pp at a pop from Yantis.

Getting and maintaining that amount of pp would seem nearly impossible using legal game methods. Think of the items you'd have to farm and sell in the bazaar, or the volume of droppable junk you'd have to turn over to maintain that kind of money on a consistant basis.

And just to put this all into perspective, Yantis has made over a $1,000,000.00 from selling freaking pixels.

I've known him since he was Bennie the necro on Karana farming Lower Guk and selling all the stuff he got there on Ebay, and then moving to other auction sites after Ebay cut out EQ sales.

I'm of totally two minds here, I admire the fact that he's made such a successful business of a game that's sucked the rest of us in for years and years, and I abhor the idea that people have paid that much cash for something virtual.

As the banker of a elemental guild Ill tell you it takes an entire guild months to work up this kind of money. The guilds that hit the rune jackpot's first made a killing at 100k+ for some rune spells but just about everyone after them didnt get those big pay days.
