WoW GenCon report

Post by Dregor Thule »

If you want to read a great writeup on WoW without having to suffer through some hack fiction or inflated-ego writing, check out:

http://www.battle.net/forums/wow/thread ... 854379&P=1

I don't suggest reading past the original posters 11 or so posts tho, as it degrades into usual b.net garbage.

Mmmmm World of Warcraft.

Druid and Rogue sound a little like they were inspired by Diablo 2 with Druid and Assasin. Shapeshifting alows the Druid to become more of a melee character just like in diablo 2 while I am sure they will be pretty badass casters if they wish. Rogues have the same idea that Assasins had with, build-up moves and then using up the power they built up with certain 'finishing' moves.

I LOVE what they are doing with the melee classes, its not that fucking auto-attack crap that makes some melee classes very boring to play in other MMORPGs. Sounds A LOT more interactive and amusing to play as a melee.

I am so glad they did 8 classes and not do 40+ classes like EQ2 is doing, because you know that each class in WoW is going to have a lot that they can do and are not useful in just one particular way. This is great, Blizzard is making a seriously awesome game here. I have no doubt in my mind that I am buying this game and that I will be very very glad that I did. :)

Warlock for pets. Mage is like the wizard of WoW, all nukes and teleports. Warlock is pets and DOTs basically.

Warlocks are the #1 pet class in WoW. Mage pets are like the old chanter pets; they can't be commanded, but just attack whatever aggros on the caster. Warlocks can issue commands to their pets. Not sure about hunters, but their pets are always going to be lower level than the master.

I'm not sure about the Warlock/Mage situation actually. I seem to remember Blizzard saying at higher levels, the Mages would be able to summon Water Elementals. And well, those just own.

I, for one, am looking forward to WoW...but feel that the whole experienced could be ruined by the vast numbers of genetic defective imbeciles I would have to deal with every time I log in.

If I'm ever in my twenties and single again, I'll try to pick up another online game. It's not lookin' too good though
