Voro , who are the gifts for ? M/F ages ? need a bit more info.

My son (9yr old) I got a smaller stereo, a skateboard, and dvd's
GF , a few sweatshirts, 1hr massage at a local spa (+prepaid tip $85)
Nephews (4yr old twins) Hot Wheels :) cheap easy and fun

You could always go for gift cards at Best Buy etc ,,, those are always ok if you dont really know what to get. That way the reciever gets to buy what they want.
A few years ago one of my brothers went to the theatre's in each of our towns , bought gift cards for movie ent + popcorn soda's. That was a good idea and ended up being about 30 a couple.

Just some ideas , since it seems thats what you are lookin for

Things I can't go wrong with in shopping for my husband:
PC games
PS2 games
boxers
shirts
wallet
DVDs

Things I like receiving:
- Candles (specifically Dreamers candles but the candles from Bath and Body works are very nice as well)
- Various types of candle holders as they really go far in decorating a home
- Gift certificates to my favorite shops, a'la Sephora, Harold's, Pottery Barn
- Jewelry ^^
- Gift certificates to spa treats such as manicures/pedicures, facials, and massage
- DVDs
- burnt CDs of an ensemble of music picked out just for me

Hope this helps and good luck shopping! :)

I'm buying some home remodeling idea books for my hubby since he's very much into that, it will give me also an idea what we wanna do with the house before he starts "creating" on his own lol

I'm also buying for us, my brother and wife and my mom tickets to Blue Man Group show, you might wanna see what's a cool show or play running currently in your city and try that.

For kids there's so many toys, DVD's, games etc. on the market it's really not hard to pick something. That Leapfrog suggestion someone gave me a month ago or so was nice, so my daughter is getting this Leapster thingie and a few DVD's with her favorite shows.

Theres a rather nifty portable car battery charger that you can store in your trunk. Can't really go too wrong with that unless they already have one.

For nic-nac gifts for friends, Moms, women in general (and Men as well... This stuff ROCKS!) A friend's Mom makes it, and I honestly can't explain how good it is.

i find myself giving a lot of gift certificates in the last couple of years, which i used to HATE to do. it's just not as personal as an actual gift, and it makes me feel lazy.

but i'd rather give somebody a gift certificate to a store that i know they'd enjoy than something really stupid like a laundry hamper shaped like a frog. (no, i did not make that shit up, somebody actually gave me one this year.) i just try to personalize it a little by giving a gift certificate in combination with a smaller gift.

I'm in the same boat you are, Voro. But you I'll probably be ordering somethings from: http://www.redenvelope.com. It's got great gifts that aren't too expensive. Hope it helps.

I always like to give things that last a bit and smell nice...Candles, Bath Oils, Perfumes and Incense...

Bit hard to buy unless you really know the person but...

Shoyeido has some very elegant and fairly affordable incense...a nice touch...good for stockings etc...

What? Get em a Glade plug-ins with four different scents. They'll thank you for it, especially if you have pissing cats.

but hey, I'm an old romantic at heart.

my best friend (girl, twenties): old school carebear lunchbox, filled with candy, toys, and fun stuff from the body shop.

my best friend (guy, twenties): a space heater and a case of sapporo.

my brother (twenties): office space dvd and outkast's "speakerboxx/the love below"

my dad: microsoft bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, a craps table, and the traditional dilbert desk calendar.

my mom: comfy pajama pants, sesame scented stuff from the body shop.

things i like (i'm a girl):
-cashmere. banana republic has great cashmere scarves for $55. i think the matching gloves are $18. can't go wrong with that.
-i'm not a big candle person, but i really like the scented oil burners. tobacco flower from the body shop is my favorite.
-cds, especially the hard to find ones. this year i recommend tori amos's "tales of a librarian"
-books... a first edition or an autographed copy of a favorite book is a great gift
-dvds
-manicures and spapedicures. i wouldn't give someone a massage unless it was from their personal therapist or from my therapist. it can be difficult to find a good one and different people may be uncomfortable with different therapists
-the sephora gift certificate is a great idea. much <3 for sephora

Sephora is the win definately!

If you don't know what the person has near them - you can go with an amazon.com cert - ie not everyone has access to Tower Records

personally I'm not into candles, incense and such - I only like a few very specific perfumes. I think scents are somewhat personal. That's just me though -

Body Shop gift baskets with fairly generic stuff inside work well for almost any female - can't go too far wrong with hand cream etc.

Guys? Who the heck knows what they want - sports stuff goes over well for some - bought my dad a Broncos jersey - I know he'll love it.

DVDs are a nice gift - problem is as with CDs - hard to know what someone already has.

It's true gift cert are rather impersonal - but unless you know the person really really well I think it is hard to choose a good gift...in many instances I would have much rather gotten a cert to choose my own thing that a piece of clutter or something I end up throwing in the closet til the next Goodwill purge.

Don't forget...it's the thought! *cough*

oh here is a link to an articles to give you some things to think about on gift giving.....

Sex. And blowjobs. Especially if they're married. It's the one time of year they can hope to get laid.

If the only time you get sex and blowjobs is Christmas...that is very sad
