How about that

Pettitte is now gone even though Schilling went to Boston. Sounds pretty stupid to me but then noone could ever accuse Steinbrenner for being brilliant, just rich as hell.
And A rod sucks a HUGE FUCKING ROD.
Why any team would want him, I have no clue.
*edit after a quick yelling match with xouqoa*
He is no where worth how much they are paying him. Hence the part of why I think no team would want to pick up his tab.
Hes slightly above average player who stands out of a pile of shit in texas.

If Nomah is a smart man, he would offer to move to 2nd base and clear the way for A-rod to play SS. If they move Manny, they don't really take on much salary. That offense would be ridiculous. I could play right field for them and they still wouldn't miss Manny.
I am keeping my hopes alive that Sheffield walks away from Yankees. You just know Kevin Brown is due for another breakdown and that would be a nice fat salary on the DL. The Sox with Schilling could be enough to finally end those New York clowns.

I'd love to see a Tejada and Garciaparra in a Mariners jersey

the salary catch though, Kilmoll, is that Boston has to pay Arod's salary, plus half of manny's through the extent of his contract. So that's $10mil for the year for a player that isn't even on your team.
And Voro hit my sentiments. Nomar IS the heart and soul of that team. If baseball had team captains, he'd be it.

Make it eight!
There's no way that Nomar has anything on A-Rod. Nomar's a great player, don't get me wrong, but he's not the same player he was 3 years ago. He'll be good for .310-25-90 or so for the rest of his career, but he's no Rodriguez. A-Rod has significantly more power, relatively equal average, better on-base numbers, and equal speed. What does Nomar have going for him? Well, he doesn't strike out as much.
Keep in mind that this was A-Rod's worst year since 1999.
Oh, and A-Rod plays better defense too.
There's no question that you'd swap Nomar for A-Rod straight up.
But do you make this trade? I say no. Let's look at what would actually happen:
You swap Manny for A-Rod, taking on probably about $10 million in salary.
You then swap Nomar for Jarrod Washburn and/or Adam Kennedy or Odalis Perez, maybe.
So you've gained a slight defensive upgrade at shortstop, along with an extra 20 home runs a year. You've also gained a useful middle of the rotation starter.
You've also taken on a ton of money for a long time. For a team that's already struggling against budget, this is difficult.
You've also, let's not forget, lost Manny Ramirez. Even though he may be a dick, he also hit .325-37-104 last year. I don't care what his attitude's like, that production is hard to replace, and the drop from Manny Ramirez to free-agent-pickup-outfielder is most likely much greater than the upgrade from Nomar to A-Rod.

Yeah, the fans get behind Nomar a whole lot more than I anticipated. I may have confused the annoying behavior w/ that of Ramirez's, my bad. However, being able to move Nomar to 2nd and dumping Manny would be a beautiful thing for them. Don't know exactly how he would take such a move and decide to stay in town after next season if it remained that way.
Would have been funny to have seen Pettitte go to Boston. Apparently, they made the best money offer at the 11th hour even though they weren't in the hunt the rest of the way. At this point, imo money would be better spent to put a third ace quality pitcher in that lineup if you're looking at the 12-14 mil range. You really only need 3 starters in the post season and could easily run the table w/ a third ace. Just doen't seem to me like Boston was lagging in the offense output. Lowe's numbers are impressive, but I'm pretty sure he's never been considered as dominant as a Pettitte.

A-Rod sucks a rod
Nomore Nomar
Can't be as queer as Ramirez.
GO TIGERS!!!!11!1
Hopefully we can lose 162 games this year by canning the minor league lineup and putting a T-ball league team out there instead. Living near Detroit has ruined my love of baseball.
