I woke up to hearing Howard Stern on 92.3 Krock in New York saying that all Airports were closed. Wondering what was going on I turned on the TV and was in shock. Since I have Friends and Family that work in the WTC and Wall Street I was scared when those buildings fell. Luckly no one I know was hurt.
It's still strange here when you drive down Rt 3 here in Jersey and you can't see the towers. Still upsets me.

I was busy at work, when we heard it, for the first time ever, our lights were off, and we all watched the events unfold on the news.
Then I had to come make everyone play nice with one another.

This is my house, remember my rules, first rule is I never lose.
In my house, you're just a guest, you might be good but I'm the best.

I am canadian as most of you know and work for environment canada. Our offices were Hijacked on that day because of a group of employees on strike.
I got to work at 8 in the morning to wait till 1 pm to get to go inside and work cause the stupid strikers were not budging from the door. Even after hearing about those horrible events.
But, that strike wasent the only thing to hapen on that day. I learned about the events from a co-worker who had those little am-fm stereo walkmans. He told me a plane hit the WTC... i was just shocked and couldnt beleive it..
I slacked all day trying to figure out who, why what and when to no avail..
Until we all saw those images of the planes crashing into the wtc...
Anyways, i wonder what tomorow will be like.
I just hope nothing bad happens again..
There were talks about the Golden Gate in SF what hapened to that anyone know??

I remember being woken up by my folks making sure i was home and safe since i was on a plane a few hours earlier and they paniced, afraid i wasn't there. I remember sitting down in my chair and watching the footage of the towers being hit. I remember shaking and crying. I remember calling all my friends who were traveling home from the get together that weekend to make sure they were safe. I remember calling my dad and him telling me he might be sent to NYC since he is a volenteer fireman, i remember crying some more. I remember calling up and offering my services to volenteer taking blood (phlebotomist). I remember checking the boards to see if everyone else was ok.

I remember not sleeping that night because of some bullshit that I had to put up with my ex the day before. I remember doing my usual board trolling, then I saw Voronwe's post. I was like "holy-fucking-shit." I woke my sister up and watched the TV while hitting F5ing on that post like every other minute.
I realized that my problems were obsolutely nothing compared to what those people were going through on the other side of the country. My prayers go to them today.

Hmmm....
When I look back to that fateful day it seems like....i cant explain it.
I remember waking up and turning on the TV and noticing the first tower on fire then realizing it was hit by an airplane.
As i watched, I suddenly saw the second airplane hit.....
I was....Stunned...
It was almost like those scenes you see in an action movie..the difference is that this was REAL
I then get contacted by the samoan government to help establish communications for the samoans in the U.S. military and their families still in Samoa trying to reach them etc
They went on high alert
At the same time, I totally forgot the techs working for me based in New York were located only a few blocks from the Towers...
The head tech was even supposed to go to the Towers that day for a meeting but a call delayed him and kept him back....a call he thanks the lord he stayed back for.
There are things I can say but wont....
I will just end this by saying..."Never take life for granted. Enjoy and cherish each day for it is one more day that others that passed can no longer have. And never ever think that certain things can never happen cuz Anything is possible as this day has shown."

I was waking up next to my wife. We were just starting to cuddle when her sister runs into our room and tells us about the first airplane hitting the WTC tower. My wife and I decide this is not a good time for sex and I click on the TV ...
... and watch the second plane hit the other tower.
I was in shock all day long. My daughter goes to a private Christian High School and the classes could not be taught that day. Every 5 minutes, someone was being called to the officer out of classrooms because a member of their family had been killed.
I called my mother and asked her if anything matched up to this event as far as the horror of what happened. In a short answer, Pearl Harbor. December 7, 1941.
Please, never forget what happened. Never forget how the world reacted. Palestinians handed out candy in celebration.

What a horrific day... the anger welling up inside was tremendous.
Having no immediate recourse to vent my anger, I tried to think of how I could possibly help. Blood donations was mentioned, so I went down to the bloodcenter (not the Red Cross) to donate and see if I could help (I have a medical background). What I saw there made me DAMN proud to be an American... there were hundreds of people lined up to donate... companies freely providing food and beverages for all that came... the atmosphere was one of somber resolve, anger, pain and loss... but no one there complained about the heat.. no one complained about the 4 hour wait... everyone was glad to be there and thankful that they could help in ANY small way. The response from the public was overwhelming.
I went back the next day and volunteered my services, which they used. The silver lining to my cloud from that day... I was hired two weeks later, having been unemployeed for two months.
