Cool link, I didn't realize I'd seen that many horror movies but I can remember almost all of the post 60's era scenes on that list.

However if I could, I'd swap the scene of the girl puking in exorcist (which made the list) with the scene of her crawling down the stairs (which didn't make the list), and swap the scene in event horizon with the guy talking to his dead wife (which made the list) with the scene of them watching the video of the crew and hearing the guy talk in latin (which didn't make the list). There were clearly much scarier parts in both of these movies, and the weak scenes they chose to represent the movies don't do them justice for the freakier than shit masterpieces they are. But maybe I'm reading too much into it...

Scariest scene ever was the scene this year when Kathy Bates was shown naked. Nothing else is even close.

I was never a fan of horror films. But that clown scene in poltergeist was right up there in the chill factor

I loved those old Fulci zombie movies!

Too bad they dont make horror movies like those from the golden era nowadays!

The Thing will always have a special spot in my heart since it was the first horror movie i saw and made me a big fan or horror movies!

It was either The Thing or the Horror/Sci-Fi movie Warning! With Jack Palance which was the first, i think i saw those the same day heh.

Warning was a predecessor to Predator, it was about an alien that hunted humans , using biological vampires to hunt them.

A MUST SEE! A CLASSIC! :D

One of the scarier scenes I remember is from the Amityville Horror. The mother (I believe) goes into the daughter's room where the rocking chair had just previously been rocking on its own. She goes to close the window and a pair of blood red eyes stare back at her from outside.

Poltergeist has a few nice scary touches

But where's the girl crawling out of TV from The Ring on that list? That's gotta make it to at least top 100

edit: As an aside. When I went there, I hit ctrl c and left as fast as possible, just because that was probably one of the creepiest moments in movies I've seen ever, dunno why, it just did it for me, and I really didn't want to see it again. But right after I got done posting it my phone rang

Don't ask me why, because I do not know, but the only movie to ever make me experience trepidation afterwords and mild horror though was the original Night of the Living Dead.

Only twice was I ever freaked out by a movie. First when I was about 12 or so and saw this Trilogy of Terror or something like that where a Psycho Santa dude jumps through the back door at this lady. Scared the shit out of me. Second was the movie Prince of Darkness at the end.

There are plenty of other movies out there that are scarey but those two are the ones that affected me most.

When I was a kid, Children of the Corn gave me nightmares. Especially the kid that they run over, when Linda Hamilton goes back to put a blanket over his body, and she kneels down and say "I'm so sorry", and then he grabs her. And that whole "He who walks behind the rows" lump of moving earth thing. That movie gave me the heebie jeebies.

Also from when I was a kid, Salem's Lot. When that boys brother is a vampire, and he's at the window, telling the little boy to let him in. OMG, I was scared.

Since then, the only thing to really freak me out was The Ring. The dead girl in the closet with the most extreme look of absolute terror...and the girl coming through the TV.

The only movie that scared me as a kid was The Late Great Planet Earth. I'm not sure why it was in the theaters but it was about prophecies and predictions about the end of the world. Scared the shit out of me.

I had nightmares about nuclear explosions and watching the fireball coming at me and nothing I could do about it.

BTW, according to the movie released in the 80's, we should all be dead by now from killer bees, wars, earthquakes, etc. We're still here so that's good news!

Scary is relartive to the age you were when you saw the movie. I saw a B movie called "Its Alive' in the late 70's.

Its about a baby that is a monster with raptor claws killing evreyone. truly awful but scary for a kid.

When we got home it was dark and I left my 10-speed outside and had to put it away in the backyard. Well, my older brother went through the house and jumped from behind a tree in the dark, dark backyard causing me to scream and piss myself. Not a lot of piss but about the size of a 50 cent piece.

That set me back a few tears.

lol I remember that movie! I saw it when I was 8. It was one of the first scarey movies I saw. Yes, I was scared shitless. The movie took on a near legendary status with the neighborhood kids on how scarey it was.
Then about, oh, 5 years ago, I caught it on some movie channel for the first time ever since. God, what a lousy moive.

i can't believe that scene from poltergeist where he throws up the tequila worm made it onto that top 100. i am the biggest weenie on the planet when it comes to horror films, and when i first saw that scene i was 11 years old and burst out laughing.

on a completely unrelated note, seeber has some great stories!

Have you ever seen a kangaroo before? I'm pretty sure it's the wolf from little red riding hood.

I'll have to agree about Event Horizon. That movie is fucked up... I remember seeing it during a horror movie marathon, it was the last one for the night and really woke me up.

I dont scare easily, all scary movies just seem like "next newest way to make the audience jump." The last movie I remember that actually scared me was Twister. I've gotten my fair share of tornadoes and bad acting growing up.
